Krabi's Tsunami Affected Areas

Featured Replies

Would like to go for a longer trip up to 12 month to Kabi Town and Ao Nang does someone know which part of this region was affected by the tsunami?

Thanks for your help.

Krab did not suffer much from the Tsunami, and particularly AoNang did not see much damage at all....

and hey, thats 3 years ago now ! all areas, even the hardest hit such as PhiPhi and Khao Lak are almost back to normal (though I dont if its appropriate to use this term "back to normal" for such a tragedy).

I have been to Ao Nang just 1 months ago and there is NOTHING that would ever make u think a Tsunami has happened here in the past 100 years.

The tsunami mainly affected Railay Beach, it did cause damage at Ao Nang too. Krabi Town is far away from the sea - it has a sea river where boats leave to go to Phi Phi. Boat travel is not advisable at this time of the year however as the sea is very rough during rainy season
