I don't think they've suddenly discovered critical thinking. I think it's just the simple matter of seeing Trump (and by extension the whole MAGA movement) crash and burn.

He is now the most unpopular president in history, and barring a coup (he tried once, and he WILL try again) the GOP are gonna get smoked in the midterms, so even if he's not 25'd or dies, he's gonna be a lame duck for the remaining two years.
