Ubon Ratchathani Man Dies From Rabies After Puppy Scratch

A 47 year old man in Ubon Ratchathani died from rabies after reportedly being scratched by a Siberian Husky puppy. He had been healthy before playing with the puppy, but later developed symptoms and was confirmed to have the disease. Health officials warned that rabies can be carried by many mammals, not only stray dogs, and that bites, scratches, or saliva entering open wounds can pose a risk. Livestock teams responded by vaccinating 612 animals, including 511 dogs and 101 cats, within a five-kilometre radius of the outbreak site. Residents were also advised to monitor animals closely and seek immediate medical care after any possible exposure.

Usually a dog with rabies will start foaming at the mouth soon after infection. It look like there was a short gap between the scratch and the dog showing signs of rabies. I got bitten on the foot by a dog and went straight to a clinic. They advised buying the vaccine at Chula hospital and they would take care of the injections. I never found out if the dog was infected as it lived far from my home, however, better safe than sorry.

What's your definition of healthy, we have lots of healthy obese, riddled guys here.

or

Perhaps He may of inherited the wrong parents, poor genes, inferior DNA

Your genes are hidden, unidentified unless you chose to identify.

Let's look at his DNA to qualify for the healthy status.

I'm so happy, chose the perfect parents, I'm bloody perfect, that's what my girlfriend's say. 😎

Health status will not help if one is infected with the rabies virus. It is 100% fatal once it manifests. One does not have magical DNA to resist the DNA infection.

Been to our local hospital several times after getting a scratch from one of our dogs. Never take a chance . Always go for shots immediately no matter how trivial the scratch might seem. They have a dedicated room and team at our local hospital and they are kept pretty busy.

Those who take a wait and see attidude are taking a bigger risk than they realize. Once the slightest symptoms appear you are normally as good as dead.

What happens to these rabid dogs ?

Do they die and their deaths put down to rabies?

Or do they just die and none knows that have rabies ?

Why are there never any reports of dogs dying of rabies ?

He just thinks he has perfect DNA, somehow choosing his parents, while not understanding they'll, and him also, will eventually succumb to one of multiple diseases floating around, and if not, age related maladies. Time takes a toll on everyone, no matter what you do.This from AI, easily researched anywhere else, shows the truth..................

1. No Scientific Basis for "Superior" or "Inferior"

  • Adaptation vs. Value: Genes are not "good" or "bad." A gene that is advantageous in one environment (e.g., genes for malaria resistance) may be detrimental in another.

  • The Concept of "Junk" DNA: Historically, roughly 98% of the genome was labeled "junk DNA" because it did not code for proteins. Modern science has shown that much of this non-coding DNA is essential for regulating gene function, meaning it is not useless.

  • Genetic Variation: The variations that do exist between humans are generally minor, and there is more genetic variation within any given racial group than between different groups. [1, 2, 3, 4, 5]

2. Genetics and Health

  • Disorders: While some genetic mutations cause serious disorders (such as Cystic Fibrosis or Huntington's), these are mutations, not a fundamental indicator of inferior "quality".

  • Complexity: Most human traits and diseases are multifactorial, meaning they are influenced by hundreds of genes acting together, along with environmental factors (diet, lifestyle, environment), rather than a single "bad" gene. [1, 2, 3, 4, 5]

3. Misconceptions and Ethical Concerns

  • Eugenics: The idea of superior or inferior genetics is the foundation of eugenics, a discredited set of beliefs aimed at improving human genetic quality through unethical means like sterilization, which has no scientific validity.

  • Social Context: The belief that some people are "genetically inferior" is often used to justify social inequalities, racism, or prejudices, rather than being based on objective science. ............................

  • Some will inherit genetics that are more susceptible to illnesses, which doesn't mean they will get them. I have diabetes in my family history, with a brother, son, aunt, uncle and more having it, but I've never even been pre-diabetic by taking care of my diet and exercising all my life. Parents dying young possibly means you might, but it still isn't a definitive thing, as your personal lifestyle means a lot more than inherited genes.

Good question. Often they die a horrible painful death. The bodies are collected and if in a public area, put in the trash without concern for their disease potential if people are not educated. However, it is not for lack of trying, or effort. Thailand has a monitoring system that tracks infections. You can see it here http://www.thairabies.net/trn/ If the health officials and the livestock department are informed, they will collect and test the animal. Rabies is a high reportable treatment, so all any visit to the hospital is supposed to be added to the national data base. There are not that many rabies cases, which is why you do not hear about them.

It can be 2 weeks or a few months for a dog bitten to show symptoms. They can transmit the virus in saliva before showing any signs. I was also bitten this year by a friendly dog that was going after another dog on my other side. An accident from her but I went to get the shots anyway as there were two puncture wounds. The dog didn't have rabies but that didn't matter as I wasn't going to take any chances.

Blimey, sounds like something out of a 1930s eugenics lecture in Europe.

I got nipped on the knee by an excited army pet dog in Mae Hong Son when riding through a check point to visit the King Nareesuan Statue in January. Wasn't taking any chances so got the full course of 5 rabies shots at various hospitals. Better safe than dead!

I've never met a full on 'anti vaxxer'. I've seen them on YouTube but never in the flesh. I declined the mrna injections but happily took a tetanus shot during that period.
