Are Online Muppets Any Better in Real Life?

Compared to what?

It is all relative. I'm hugely popular on another forum.

It was you who referred to misfits, so I asked you if you considered yourself one of that number.

Since you acknowledge that "it is all relative", then you understand that some people will see you as a misfit, rendering your comment somewhat meaningless.

You rationalise that here, by telling yourself that everyone here is "old, with no hobbies".

Yet, you claim that on another forum, you are hugely popular.

So why are you here and not there?

You also claim to be the 3rd best poster here, yet you possess the most alarming reputation score of anyone in the history of reputation scores. So how do you quantify 'best'?

It seems that you simply move the goalposts around to suit yourself.

No one is any one thing here. Sometimes, they'll be feeling Blue. Sometimes they'll see Red. Sometimes all will seem Black. Some may have a Yellow streak... All within the realms of normality. There is no perfect. The difference can simply be a matter of time.

Personally, I'm thankful for the community and all the 'crazy' people within and I hope we all become (even)better men through the experience.

More skeptical about those who claim they are themselves here, and are totally A-Holes while online, and still think they are okay.

I wonder if the people who post irrelevant YouTube videos are the same when you meet them in person? You're having a group discussion about mental health on chat forums or the impact of the Iran bloc

Jai dee vs jai dum. I am rarely wrong about people. Usually I can work out a woman real fast. Men are more sneaky in business though. A world with 80% women would be great!

It’s honestly so refreshing to know I’ve never read a post you’ve made that wasn’t meaningless and didn’t sound like some truly profound armchair wisdom that was perfectly on kilter. We can always count on you for these absolute gems of life experience that definitely don’t sound like useless cringe cliché phrasing cooked up in someone’s mom’s basement.

One build a impression of ones "friends and foes" from forums.

Imagine to meet a foe, who actually had a decent personality IRL. Less people to argue with from then on.

I think few active members are actually here in Thailand.

Politics abroad get way more attention on this forum, than normal for Thailand expats to talk about.

We mostly talk about life in Thailand in general, and visa updates. I moved here to enjoy my life.

The tougher people talk online, the more of a punk they are face to face.

Spooky people 😲

Do you consider yourself an outcast? Personally, I don't find lurking around back alleys, searching out 500 baht 'activities' particularly mainstream. I think most people would recoil from the mere thought of it. Yet, for you, it seemed a positive attraction. Even more weird when you claim to have so much money.

It's all relative, isn't it?

It is just a forum with words on a screen.

You have posted various versions this same sentence many times already. At this point, it feels like a way of avoiding responsibility for what you post while also implying that your words have no real meaning. I think most people already agree with you. Just look at your site reputation score if you need any further confirmation.

Nice theory you have there... Does it apply to you?

I think you are truly undervaluing yourself. Easily the top poster when it comes to complete trite rubbish. I do not think anyone could even stand to challenge you.

I usually get along with women better. Plus they are better looking plus sex. Men are very angry at times. Asian women are usually lovely.

Says the bloke who spends nearly every waking moment on a forum trying to impress men he claims not to like or get along with. I cannot understand why instead you are not spending your time with all those lovely women you say you get along with so well.

For me, there are no foes here. In my life, I value people who are congruent. So someone telling me what I seem like to them, is not anathema to me. Better a neutral truth than a hateful lie. Some people react badly to such phenomena. For them, it's like being stripped naked in front of everyone.

People who love you, tell you the truth and help you to deal with it. For my part, I just say what I see. How others react, illustrates the way in which they think.

Some talk about committing violence. Who are the real keyboard warriors? I prefer to allow the person to speak freely and to learn from wiser people around them.

So many here complain about nanny states, where so many aspects of their lives are controlled. But take the same attitude everywhere with them.

Speak freely. There should be no intimidation. How can someone reach their potential if you curtail their ability to think for themselves?

One guy abuses me here then was super nice via pm. His posts are just an act. Amusing how people can be like that.

When you are a young man, travelling the world through sport, doing what you love, and suddenly too many women are available or fighting for your attention, it can become more than just “distracting.” It can become distractive in the sense that it pulls you away from focus, discipline, loyalty, and the life you are supposed to live.

This, fortunately, never happened to me.

However, as everyone knows, this exact same thing happened to Keith Richards.....multiple times during his career.

I don't want to interact with SPOOKY people.

How do you figure that out ?

I guess most of us spend no more than a few minutes on this kind of communication, and not every day.

That is a polished way of saying you insult people and then call their reaction proof that you were right.

This is not free speech. It is bait dressed up as wisdom

You are still having problems I see. I wasn't referring to just my free speech, but yours too.

Your brain still takes things on twists and turns, thinking that you are more clever than you actually are.

Remember when I asked you what you meant when you replied to @Rockyroad , "I hear you"

Was that genuine or was that "bait, dressed up as wisdom"? For as long as I've known you, you have been guilty of such behaviour. Trying to appear smarter than you actually are. You described it yourself, as sometimes being an a*se.

That's why you imagine what you do. It's you. It's the way that you think and it's the way that you behave. Perhaps your competitive spirit.

Keep it simple.

You depend too much on AI. Again, trying to look better than you actually are.

We are all talking to a computer screen. He is not insulting anyone in real life. He is insulting an image of reality like a character that represents something he hates in his own life. Kind of like hating King Kong Buddy. The character represents bad and Hulk Hogan represents good.

I understood your point. I simply disagree with the way you use “free speech” as cover for personal digs. I’ll leave it there.

Predictable as useally, this is your game

I don't think one can generalize. There's no doubt that many, in online fora where they're essentially anonymous, allow themselves to be aggressive, smug, condescending and insulting in ways they'd never be in person, either out of shame or fear. I suspect, however, there are also many who are just as toxic in real life as in online life. What are the percentages for each type? Impossible to know.

In fact, myself and @blaze master have been the most compassionate people towards you on this thread.

Look at who has actually insulted you...sometimes veiled, sometimes overtly.

Those descriptives are simply what you imagine. They are your thoughts and your feelings. People who generate those feelings will feel that. People who don't, won't.

I'm pretty sure I'm a better online muppet than I am as a real life muppet.
