New passport. Can the Thai driving license be updated?

My last thoughts are, so you can use your TDL to fly internally here, I've done it. Would that not be a reason to get the PP number updated on the TDL.

For domestic flights, they just check if the names on boarding pass and ID match. The passport number is irrelevant. I haven't updated my passport number and I still use my Thai DL for domestic flights. No problem.

If a hotel will accept your licence they obviously don't care to do things correctly and will care even less if the passport number is valid or not.

Why do you need a new license? I don't think your license is invalid simply because you have a new passport.

You have a thing called a passport.

Use it

Why? The ID card gets me every where I need to go. No need to carry the passport.

How can a hotel submit a TM30 if you don't show them your passport?

Not sure what you are referring to by "ID card". If it's TDL used for check in hotels for the last time that should not be accepted.

Clearly at some accommodation it is.

Regards travel within Thailand you obtain boarding pass and flash your pp to security to enter departure.

What is this thread even about.

If traveling away from home to location for holiday or whatever then crazy not to carry your pp.

Back to the actual thread. It is not necessary to go to transport office to update TDL when you renew pp.

If you opt to then fine.

No, it is the Thai ID card (pink one). Why do you say I am crazy for not carrying my passport to travel. I believe you are Australian and i have just come back from there with many domestic flights. No ID necessary and that includes my Thai wife so can travel anywhere in Australia without the passport. All flight check in is done with the booking number, no ID shown. Same in Thailand, never use my passport for domestic flights or hotels, just the Thai ID card.

Do not understand why Thailand needs it.

That is up to them, not a requirement for me to do that. As I said above, why is it necessary.

Hi

Does anyone have any info on updating a Thai driving licence with my new passport number?

Thank you

Gee

Next time you renew your license.

I have lifetime Thai car and m'cycle licenses. When I updated the licenses from laminated paper items to plastic cards they added my Thai ID number.

I obtained my Thai ID number when I was issued my Thai Permanent Resident book (30 years ago) and also used in the family Tabien Baan book.

Thread has ZERO to do with Pink Card.

Most folk do not have.

Regardless travel without pp is just crazy.

Good that you could declare you have pink card.

Read the OP. Asked simple question.

Slow down you're overthinking my comment.

Or slow down on irrelevant PR status.

Irrelevant. As would be Thai citizenship

and you continue to assume why I added that detail. If you think about it maybe there's a reason (which you not realizing) why I added that detail.

The OP has received the answer to his question (plus quite a lot of off-topic chit-chatting)
