No need for the freezer, mine stays good Vaccuum packed in the fridge for 2 years so far.

I’ve never kept any in the freezer for more than a year, but people say it’ll last 3 to 5 years. The key is double vacuum sealing it with two 220 micron bags so no air or moisture gets in. You could probably do the same thing in the fridge and get at least a year out of it. I prefer using the freezer for it though. I’d rather keep the fridge space for food.

Thanks and I have an extra freeze so i will just throw in there. I will order those dehumidify thingies you talked about also to throw in the jars outside the freezer.

Your welcome. The extra freezer sounds like the perfect place to stick it.

There are a couple of small differences between these gel packs. The Boveda brand is the more well known brand and perfectly fine, but I prefer Boost because each pack comes with a small humidity indicator card that you place in the jar alongside the gel pack. The card changes color when the gel pack is no longer maintaining the proper humidity, so you know when it’s time to replace it. Boveda doesn’t include anything like that.

Boost also offers a range of pack sizes and humidity levels. The standard choice is the 8 gram, 62% humidity pack. If you prefer your stuff to stay a little drier, they also make a 52% humidity pack. I usually stick one of each in the jar.
