Reasonable Price To Pay For Basic Web Design?

Featured Replies

Hi

I'm currently looking into having a website built for my friend's language school. I'm doing this as a favour to her as she knows nothing about computers and the net. Anyway, she wants a fairly basic site, probably about 5 pages with photos of the school and students, info and prices of the courses, contact info etc. Nothing too fancy. I have a few quotes at the moment but I'm not too sure what a fair price would be. I do know what a 'Western' company would charge but what about Thai prices?

Thanks

Dave

It depends how basic the design is. Personally, the cheapest I'd design for would be 8000 for first page + 1500 for subsequent pages after and that'd be like doing them a favour (i.e. if i personally know them or they're my relatives or something). Prices for for-profit companies would be much higher (looking at 3-4 times the cost).

Like you said - a fairly basic website. Is the website just in English - or are there English/Thai language options? Would each page have to be accessible in BOTH languages - or just one language?

Peter

If it's just a basic brochure site with no dynamic content, don't bother with a designer. Just buy a close fit template from one of the many numerous template sites - a good one won't cost more than $50US. You can always then get someone to modify the template , or do it yourself.

PETER991- Most of the site will be in English. In fact there won't be that much text at all, just an intro/background paragraph and the rest will be mainly pics (of the school, students, staff etc.). The only page that will have Thia language will be the course info page, my friend already has this on paper so the designer would just need to copy the text into the site (they would of course need to be able to type in Thai).

Simmo - Yes a template would be good, but I want some one to edit it for her as she doesn't have a clue and I'm too busy.

i reckon you have to take hosting and domain name into consideration which would be in the midst of 4000 baht per year. a simple site using a Content Management System should cost about 10,000 to start off and include maintenance for the year. IN total 15,000. but if you do it yourself. Just hosting and domain plus a template for say 2000 baht+4000baht = 6K? I charge my clients between 15,000 to 20,000 for hosting, domain and one year maintenance depending on how much changes are to be made and how often. what modules included, such as galleries, issuance of newsletters, guestbooks, forms, etc etc.
