How do you define Zionism?

I define it as support for the right of Israel to exist as a Jewish state with political self determination.

By that definition the vast majority of global Jews are NOT anti-Zionist.

I make that distinction because they may not identify as Zionist but if they support the basic right mentioned they are certainly not ANTI-Zionist.

Totally different than support of Israeli government actions and policies.

My opinion is that ONLY Jews have agency to be against Zionism and it's not the business of non-Jews to tell Jews they're not allowed their own nation state any more than it would be business of non-Thais to tell Thai that or non-Japanese to tell Japanese that.

An exception might be weirdos who are AGAINST any and all nation states.

But being against the existence of the one and only tiny Jewish state and no other states is clearly racist Jew hatred unless you're a Jew that has agency on that matter.

It really does come down to what you think is the definition of Zionism.

If your definition though totally incorrect is conflated with support for all Israeli government policies and actions, then I would argue everyone decent should be anti-Zionist. By that definition, I am definitely anti-Zionist.

But that is NOT the correct definition!

Again Zionism and Israeli government policies are NOT the same thing by definition.

I agree that about 90 percent of global Jews support the right of Israel to exist but even though that can be seen as pro Zionist, I'm sure a much lower number actually identify as Zionist. That's about the confusion about the definition yet again which is something Jewish people experience as well.

A much lower number of Jews especially outside Israel support all the actions and policies of the Netanyahu government. Especially among younger diaspora Jews.

Yes it is real psychological challenge for American Jews especially who tend to be on the liberal side to balance liberal sentiments with continued support for Israel.

There is a wide divide between Iraeli and diaspora Jews.

So we've got a complicated sitution which is obviously too much for many people to fairly process.

What Rabbi Weiss says is extreme to most Jews. Neturei Karta is very much a radical outlier and represents the beliefs of only a tiny fraction of all Jews. The majority of Jews support the existence of Israel as the homeland of the world's Jews, even if many disagree totally with the policies of the current Israeli government.
