Donald Trump claimed on Saturday that a peace deal with Iran “has been largely negotiated”, after calls with a Pakistani mediator, Gulf allies and Israel, potentially paving the way for an end to the war launched by the US and Israel in February.

Trump wrote on his social media platform that “final aspects and details” of a “memorandum of understanding” were still being discussed and “will be announced shortly”, but said the strait of Hormuz would be opened as part of the deal.

However, Iran’s Fars news agency, which is close to the powerful Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps, reported that the strait of Hormuz would remain under Iranian control, a red line for the US. The news agency reported on Telegram that “the management of the Strait, determining the route, time, method of passage, and issuing permits will continue to be the monopoly and discretion of the Islamic Republic of Iran”.

It said Trump’s assertion that an agreement was nearly final was “inconsistent with reality”.

It has effectively been this way for a long time already.

Lets get one thing correct a MoU is NOT a Deal it is a foundational document used to outline shared goals and establish the framework for a future, legally binding contract, an MoU is not legally binding,

Trump is full of it !!

Going by the number of TACO's Trump has done since the ceasefire, you must be very delusional to think Trump has a chance of winning this

If you think this is a gambit you are as bad as trump !! trump has no plan !! this folly was lost by him at the start and you know it !!

Virtually everything that Donald Trump says at this point has to be mistrusted and we know he would say anything to achieve a specific game without any regard to truth.

Let us hope there is some truth in this and let us hope that a solution can be achieved, as this war is going nowhere, Trump's been backed into a corner, and America has already lost and been humiliated to a staggering degree.

Mr. Trumpflation desperately needs an off-ramp.

So what would a win entail for you?

A memorandum of understanding, or MOU is the legal name for a "concept of a plan" that was "largely" negotiated by Obama already.

Nothing to see here, move along now

How can he win something that he has already lost?

Anyway, despite things 'largely' being agreed, there's still this from the UK's Telegraph:

"The two main sticking points appear to be over the timing of the release of Iran’s frozen assets and the conflict between Israel and Lebanon.

Benjamin Netanyahu, the Israeli prime minister, wants to retain the right to continue the conflict, which the deal is expected to end. ..."

PS: Pyrrhic victories don't count.

Trump has NO plan !!!!

An MOU (Memorandum of Understanding) is not the formal legal name for a "concept of a plan." Instead, it is a non-binding preliminary agreement that outlines the framework,

You need to pay attention to emphasis, especially when words are placed in inverted commas. This indicates direct quotes of other people.

Trump has already claimed he has the "concepts of a plan". It's something he first went on the record as saying back in 2024, albeit with regard to healthcare reform (which also never happened). You can Google it if you want.

In terms of world peace, an MOU between the primary belligerents means squat. More so with Netanyahu off his leash.

Who cares if some one gave a direct Quote !!! a MoU is NOT a concept of a Plan !! who ever quoted it, and i live in the present not in 2024 and if trump said he has a plan in regard to healthcare you are on the wrong topic i think it is you who should pay attention to the topic and not post B/S

  1. Plan: A step-by-step operational strategy that designates tasks, milestones, and deadlines to achieve a specific objective (e.g., a project plan or marketing plan).

  2. MOU: A foundational document that establishes a partnership or mutual goals. It sets the spirit of the collaboration, rather than the minute-by-minute execution

  3. Both not legally binding

Good grief. Just look at you with your multiple exclamation marks. Living "in the present" but getting all upset with anonymous people on an internet forum.

Calm it Janet.
