Hi All,

I am an IT professional from India currently living and working in Bangalore,INDIA. I am married to a Thai national. My wife works in Bangkok for a very reputed organisation and we have a seven month old kid.

I am planning to transfer funds to my wife's account in Bangkok. She in turn would deposit a substantial amount(say 10000 baht) into my existing account with Bangkok Bank(which I had when I was in Bangkok to show the 400000 baht deposit for visa extension) . I am doing this to have a substantial bank balance when I eventually settle down in Thailand and I completely trust my wife.

That account of mine in Bangkok Bank has something like 2400 baht as the account balance.

Now is this ok? I mean can my account in Bangkok Bank show regular deposits even though I am not in Thailand. What are the cons of this particular idea?

Will appreciate your thoughts and advice.

Best Regards,

Lokesh

Well Lokesh. You will probably be disappointed to learn that 400,000 in a Thai bank no longer meets the requirements unless you had been using that method in the past. Now you need to prove 40,000 baht per month income. The income can come from your wife and yourself combined.

I don't believe that was his question (but could be wrong). If you are asking if normal deposits from outside Thailand will be a problem for your wife I do not believe it will even be noticed, much less a problem.

Hi Lopburi,

Thanks for the response.

I was meaning it to be deposited into an account that has my name.My wife would transfer the funds I send to her into MY(Lokesh) account in Bangkok Bank.Is this ok even though I am not staying in Thailand. In the eventual need for money can i go to thailand and withdraw the money from my account?

I regularly send funds from Japan to my Thai bank account without being in Thailand without any problems. I have internet banking access (SCB and KT) and can make online payments or of course when in Thailand withdraw funds with my atm card or at the counterwith my signature/ID
