The Russo-Ukraine war begins and ends in Crimea

Crimea has now been effectively isolated.

The Kirch bridge is only being used for passenger vehicles, not supply trucks or military.

Its structure is weakened from previous attacks so its high risk to send heavy stuff.

The land bridge to Crimea has been subject to very successful drone attacks with basically no defense for supply trucks, military stuff, etc.

While soldiers can be ordered to go more and more very similar to the Staits of Hormuz, commercial trucks are opting out as its way too high a risk of being blown up.

There are massive fuel shortages now in Crimea, long gas lines, rations if you can get it, most stations closed, a black market of course with a 10x markup.

Of course that hits buses and taxes as well.

People are being forced to walk.

How a stuck tourist is going to be able to get enough gas to drive out. who knows?

The big passenger ferries are gone.

Smaller ferries are now being loaded with fuel trucks, an obvious target for Ukraine.

Tourists who aren't already stuck there would be insane to go there now.

In summary, Crimea is quickly becoming unsustainable for Russia.

Sure Russia can continue their terrorism attacks on civilian targets in Kiev, but that doesn't address the now very apparent and serious Crimea problem.

We know of course that Crimea is a huge ego trip for Putin.

If he loses Crimea, it's over for him politically and probably worse.

From Ukraine's POV, they'll never have decent security even with a "peace deal" without taking back Crimea.

The obvious question is what will Putin do to avoid losing it? Nukes?
