He is a buffoon isn't he?

I don't think he's up to the job no...a few years ago he was being interviewed on the street saying Tories don't have street cops and you never see one, when all the while there is one stood on the other side of the road behind him

So the Deputy PM and Secretary of Justice has said police can treat ethnic minorities differently if needed...ok mate...you just confirmed two tier policing does exist

Complete conjecture stirred up to fit your own personal beliefs. You are spouting this off following the Nowak killing, to the same tune as the likes of JD Vance or Tommy Robinson. The independent investigation has not concluded on police conduct during this incident yet as the killer has only just been sentenced, and will take a few months to report on police response I would guess.

Do you really need to wait for the police whitewash investigation when there's bodycam video?

That's rather sheeplike.

Edit: This (admittedly slanted) article sums it up perfectly:

The pattern is always the same — subjective “hate” or “offense” based on the complainant’s feelings, enforced by police who have been ideologically captured.

Read the article...it's his own words, no conjecture there mate

Why would an independent authority investigating the police be a whitewash? What have the independent authorities have to gain from whitewashing when by definition they are independent?

Even if they're independent of the police (if that's even true), they're not independent of the whims of the current government. Who would love for this to go away, along with all references to "2 Tier".

After watching the video, any Police Commision, Judge, intelligent person, can see how it all happened.

The Sikh's mother has also been found guilty of assisting her son. Surely the Judge should be able to make his mind up about her sentance while the trial is ongoing so that he could pronounce it as soon as found guilty.

Funded by government, yes. Controlled by government on individual cases, no - at least legally. Whether you believe that separation holds in practice depends on your trust in institutions.

The “two-tier policing” claim is exactly what the IOPC has to test here: did race allegations influence officers’ actions? If they find it did, they have to say so publicly. If they find it didn’t, they have to say that too. Either way, one side will claim the IOPC was biased.

That’s why these investigations take months and publish thousands of pages of evidence - to show their working.

I read it already otherwise I would not have replied! If you need more help consider this:

True: Police do have guidance that accounts for ethnicity/religion in some situations, stemming from the 2017 Lammy Review to correct documented bias.

False/Misleading: Lammy did not say in that June 5 interview that police “can treat ethnic minorities differently if needed.” He was rejecting the “two-tier” accusation.

Whether those guidelines amount to “two-tier policing” is the political debate of which you have clearly taken one sides subjective viewpoint.

Not when I was on the job. But of course I retired more than 10 years ago so who knows what really goes on anymore. But then where I worked the rich were mostly DUI's, cocaine use, fraud and domestic violence cases. The poor committed theft, robberies, auto theft, narcotics sales. Most ethnic minorities rarely called the police because they did not trust us. I learned later on many come from places where the police could not be trusted or simply not competent.

I wish I shared your trust. I don't. You can already see the way the current government is leaning by Kier's response to JD Vance and Elon Musk, among others.

The tribunal's results will (of necessity) be whatever reduces the risk of mayhem in the streets. Whether it's true or not.
