"Not fit for interview", yet apparently fit enough to be released back into the public domain after attempted murder. I struggle to understand how such decisions are reached, let alone how they can b

Yes - but the comment was made earlier:

Sorry for all those posters salivating that the suspect could be a migrant.

To which further responses (mine included below) highlighted an understanding of why the clear information regarding Immigrant Status is of importance given the temperature of the nation - frustrations are amplified in an informational void.

Its no longer surprising that some people speculate about the background of suspects before the facts emerge. Whether those assumptions prove correct or not is another matter.

The more telling observation is not that some guessed incorrectly, but that the same conclusion was 'jumped to' by a handful of people - perhaps the underlying reason for that is more telling.

I don’t do pure, cold rage "Farage’s words," lest we forget except maybe occasionally when driving, when a lorry pressures me in the slow lane of the motorway to speed up, putting me in a potentially dangerous situation. Even then, I would be wrong; a bad temper is never helpful when trying to defuse and safely navigate that kind of scenario. Indeed, cool heads are nearly always the best way to approach virtually any situation.

If I were to go down the route of cold rage, I would probably reserve it for the hollowing out of our post-WWII Western societies by the oligarchic forces of capital the Elon Musks, the Jeff Bezos', the Bill Gates', the hedge funds, and the vulture capitalists with great power and wealth who have gamed the system and promoted the absolute freedom of capital to go anywhere in the pursuit of greater riches, with no regard for the policies of the nation-state. It is the very same hand that boosted China from poverty to wealth and now sits on top of mountains of cash stolen from the middle and working classes wealth they now choose to weaponize, pouring petrol onto political discourse simply to divert attention from their own stealing hands.

But most of all, I would reserve that pure, cold rage for sinister clowns like Nigel Farage, who enriches himself on the sly and acts as a bagman for wealthy elites within the Bannon, Breitbart, and Trumpian universe to recast our politics into a divisive and angry discourse; they have masterfully whetted the appetite of the 24-hour news cycle, hyper-focusing the public gaze onto every imminent rape and knife crime not out of a desire for justice, but to cultivate a climate of ambient terror engineering a relentless loop of fear and distortion to manufacture a vile, tedious culture war deliberately designed to blind us to the grand larceny happening right before our eyes.

Brexit has cost the UK £150 bn and rising - a huge amount of money that ain't coming back the biggest act of economic self harm in modern history - I will in the final analysis reserve my pure cold rage for THAT.

Edit [main comment deleted] we can discuss crocodiles and three year olds.

Thanks for preserving my missive - saved for another forum. Right I'm off on this lovely day to enjoy Central London and hopefully avoid being stabbed. As you were ...

Just ridiculous. Who the hell signed off on a trip to a bloody crocodile farm (of all places) for a person with mental health issues thinking it was a good idea/location? Talk about a place begging for something to go wrong if they had an episode. What annoys me is that there is very little accountability in Social Services and is staffed by faceless jobsworths/employees seemingly protected from negligence... never do you hear of them having to face the music for misdeeds/poor judgement. As mentioned earlier in the thread, not able to be interviewed but they are happy to release them back into circulation after attempting to kill a child... could make it up. Morons!

I don't think he was released back into circulation, back to the care home/ward under strict supervision more likely in this case.

If anything an expanation from the care home should be warranted and were his carer's at fault for leaving him alone.

You made up that conclusion.

With possible litigation if at fault: no, they can't. And why should they, to satisfy your curiosity?

Nice cherry picking of half a sentence... good job.

Edit - As an aside, if you are not in prison, then you are still in "circulation" otherwise he wouldn't have been allowed out in the first place. However, let's not let semantics get in the way of quality trolling.

Since that was an important part of your post, i commented on it. I decided to leave this alone "could make it up. Morons!".

Gotta hand it to you, your AN name is clever, the rhyme with Enoch. I remember his 'rivers of blood' speech in, I think 1968. Caused a real furore.

For some reason he was photographed whilst in his bath!

Not as much furore as we are witnessing these days. Enoch was correct.

Lots of rumours about this being a migrant - the lack of details implies theyre hiding something.

Like many, I believe the UK authorities want social unrest so they can push through more laws and controls over the populace.

Stories like this and authorities response are very likely DESIGNED to infuriate.
The authorities WANT a bad reaction.

They hate us.

Agree. Break down the system in place makes it easier to introduce the system you want. Or what the WEF wants.

Well if i had a child or a family member in care I'D want to know he would be took care of . Thats not curiosity thats called carinG not left alone where he could be put in danger or depending on the seriousness of his condition a danger to others.

Thanks for the correct nformation.

Actually having checked, up front payment of money to secure a suspect's freedom in never required in the UK legal system. Police bail doesn't involve money and when a person is charged, although the courts can ask for surety, this is merely a promise made by a friend or family member to pay a set amount of money if you fail to attend your court hearing. No money is paid up front to secure the person's release from custody in either case.

Apparently, being not fit for interview means you are not in a state to be questioned under caution. This is governed by the Police and Criminal Evidence Act 1984 (PACE). The person may be heavily intoxicated, experiencing a severe mental health crisis, or suffering from a physical condition that prevents them from understanding the questions or providing reliable answers.

The article doesn't say if he was released to a mental health hospital.

Likely sectioned, a decision which will not be put in the public domain.

There will be initially a 28 days section. That gives the police time to continue their enquiries. He can be rearrested.

Americans don't have a similar DoL order.
