Trying to get Proof of Life cert signed for CH pension - rules changed

Featured Replies

Previously I get it done on a visit to a doctor here in Chiang Mai and once even my dentist.

NOW doctors are not competent judges if you are alive or not it seems and I have to go to Amphour office (my wife got hers done at the police station but she is Thai)

Presumably your CH Pension is a UK occupational one? If so, I wonder your pension provider may now be basing whom they deem acceptable (or otherwise) for witnessing purposes on whom HMPO deem acceptable (or otherwise) for UK passport countersignatory purposes. In HMPO's case, doctors are not considered acceptable "unless they state that they know you well (for example they’re a good friend) and that they recognise you easily from your photo":

CH is Switzerland.

"The abbreviation CH comes from the Latin name Confoederatio Helvetica, meaning Swiss Confederation"

Correct - the Swiss state pension

I, for one, would certainly have found it more helpful if you had made this clear in titling this thread. Whilst the CH abbreviation may well be crystal-clear in your and @BritManToo 's eyes, it was most certainly not intuitively clear in mine - and probably not in most other AN members' either. For all I know, you could well have been referring to an occupational pension scheme for central heating engineers!

As this was ONLY of interest to those getiing SWISS pensions and with limited text available for the title anybody receving said pension would know what "CH" stood for 😁

I got it signed at the local police station and this was accepted
