King Warned: Bring Harry Home And William Could Explode

King Charles has been warned he risks reopening one of the Royal Family's deepest rifts if he allows Prince Harry and Meghan Markle to stay at a royal residence during their reported return to Britain next month.

The warning comes amid reports that the Duke and Duchess of Sussex have been offered accommodation for their visit to attend the Invictus Games "One Year to Go" event in Birmingham. If confirmed, it would mark Meghan's first visit to Britain since September 2022.

Royal Author Issues Stark Warning

Investigative royal biographer Tom Bower believes such a move would prove to be a serious error of judgement following years of public criticism directed at the Royal Family by the Sussexes.

Speaking to the Daily Express, Bower argued that allowing Harry and Meghan to benefit from royal hospitality after repeated public attacks would send entirely the wrong message.

He claimed Prince William and Catherine, Princess of Wales would be unlikely to accept any arrangement that appeared to reward the couple after years of family tensions.

Bower also suggested the Sussexes were eager to return because they were "desperate" to rebuild their connection with Britain.

Fresh War Of Words

The comments follow an unusually sharp statement issued by representatives for Prince Harry and Meghan, Duchess of Sussex after the publication of Bower's latest book, Betrayal: Power, Deceit And The Fight For The Future Of The Royal Family.

The Sussexes accused the author of having moved beyond legitimate criticism into personal obsession, saying he had built a career on theories about people he had never met.

The statement also highlighted previous remarks in which Bower suggested the future of the monarchy depended upon removing the Sussexes from public life.

Buckingham Palace Era Ends

The royal row comes as King Charles III confirmed another major break with tradition.

Despite taxpayers funding the £369 million refurbishment of Buckingham Palace, the King and Queen Camilla will continue living at Clarence House after renovation work finishes in 2027.

While Buckingham Palace will remain the ceremonial headquarters of the monarchy, hosting state banquets, investitures and official events, it will no longer serve as the monarch's permanent home.

A Palace spokesman described the change by saying the Palace would remain "the beating heart of the Monarchy, just not its resting head."

Royal Finances Revealed

The annual royal accounts also showed King Charles paid £12.9 million in income tax and capital gains tax during the 2024–25 financial year.

The payments covered income from the Duchy of Lancaster estate along with private assets including Balmoral Castle, Sandringham House and investment income.

Whether Harry and Meghan are ultimately welcomed onto royal property during their visit may now become another flashpoint in the continuing battle over the future direction of the Royal Family.
