A few days ago I went to Yanhee hospital in Bangkok to see a specialist for varicose veins. When I walked into the hospital lobby I was inundated with the "Pride Rainbow" flag. Every computer terminal had a large rainbow flag flowing from its monitor. There were Pride symbols everywhere and a special large exhibit explaining Yanhee's endorsement of the homosexual movement. After checking in and riding up to an upper floor to see my specialist, I was again inundated with the Pride symbols as I opened the elevator door. At this point I was thinking about leaving but since it took me over an hour to get to this hospital, I suffered through the madness. After the visit my wife informed me that she advised against Yanhee and just pay a little more and go to Bumrungrad Hospital.

I’d actually like to see some gay people weigh in. Why is the Pride flag important? Pride parades? Why not? But the flags I don’t get.

The assumption here is that a Muslim town council would not want to tout Pride because they’re conservative, just like far more white folks. It certainly won’t “protect” their children. They’ll grow up gay...or not.

I can only speak for myself.

I don't have a problem if more conservative localities choose to ban Pride flags in public places just as I think it's fine if they are displayed in more tolerant places during Pride Month.

What I mean by banning in public places is by the city for example on city land, not private land, not banning citizens showing up in public spaces with the flag in a parade or any other other context.

I do have a problem with countries that make such symbols illegal for everyone to display in public.

Some might say it's a slippery slope towards that to ban at all.. Possibly. Sometimes.

Another example is in Florida where they have banned such public displays.

Most obnoxiously they covered over a rainbow crosswalk near the gay nightclub that suffered a shooting massacre. That was hateful of the fascist state government there, It was a statement of ERASURE of what happened there.

Yanhee is known primarily for its cosmetic surgery. Perhaps gays are a significant part of their patient base. There is, of course, no homosexual "movement" just as there's no straight movement! People are gay and feel the need to stand up for their civil rights because they've been forced to hide for so long. I do agree, however, that Pride flags are overused for such commercial purposes.

Nobody is saying not to show respect and give equal rights to all no matter what your sexual orientation is.

But it's all the fuss, propaganda and victimization from such circles that is becomming overwhelming. You can actually see people turning gay just to follow a sort of a fashion trend. It is having the totally opposite effect on society.
