Coupled with the 4,800+ baht to ship, this will probably be my last order from outside of Thailand (barring any unforeseen emergency).

Just paid 1,500B on a $250 item from the US.......not too bad, but won't be in a rush to order again.

Went onto next Thailand site few days ago to order decent boxer shorts. Ordered them at total 2670bht or so.

Day later get an email from courier in UK wanting 1460 bht in taxes . Told them don't bother attempting to deliver as won't be accepting them.

Nowhere in the ordering process did it mention taxes and the fact it was about 60% of the order cost for something probably made here was 🤯🙈

Amazon normally over states the customs charge. Then you get a refund on the difference between what they held and the actual charge.

There are third-party USA-to-Thailand shipping services advertised on Facebook. They use air freight, and purchases are then delivered via Thai Post domestic EMS without any additional customs fees or paperwork. The entire transaction is handled on LINE with bank-to-bank transfer in Thailand.

For shoes, it works out to about half the price of any other method I've found to buy from Amazon. For higher price-to-weight items like electronics, these services are a great deal.

I didn't use any customs charges from Amazon.

Posted item costs through DHL when I set up the shipping with my forwarding service.

It's good to use one based in a state that doesn't have state sales tax - Delaware, Montana, New Hampshire, and Oregon. I'm from California, so that saves me 8% off the top at Amazon checkout. They all charge between 800-900b/kg and ship to Thailand once a week. Both of these are in Oregon. I used the top one most recently.

That's where most of these services conduct their business. You could try searching for websites, but I didn't have much luck that way. Good luck.

Customs charges when using Amazon?

From my experience, it really does depend on what you buy and the total cost. For example, if you buy a T-shirt that costs $15 USD, there's no customs duty, just shipping. Over $20 or whatever, and they start adding customs duties, but it still depends on what you're buying. Some things have higher duties than others, and whatever they charge, if it turns out to be too high, you'll eventually be refunded the difference.

Anyway, if you want something on Amazon and you can't get it anywhere else, then it's up to you. Pay the duty or not.

The Facebook algorithm just introduced me to these folks. They are in Oregon ( no state sales tax) and signficantly cheaper than the service I'm currently using. I'll give them a try next.

I have used Amazon several times. Often the total charge for customs and taxes are almost as much as the total cost of the items purchased. Therefore, I use Amazon for items I can't get elsewhere or there is a large savings from a price differential.

For example, I needed a new foam cushion part for my ResMed CPAP full face mask. The price on Lazada was 1,750 baht each. On Amazon, I purchased "F20 Replacement Cushion Large - 3 Packs Mask Cushions" for a total of $39.95. After adding shipping and customs duties, I paid around $65 for 3 replacement cushions. Buying 3 cushions here the cost would have been around $160. Thus a great savings.

Wait. It trade negotiation go though, then items imported from the US will be subject to 0% tariffs/duties.

Same with me. The customs fees rival the total cost of the items.

Can't find US size 13 shoes in Thailand. Almost every place only goes up to size 12. So I am forced to order from the US. Also certain clothes sizes are difficult to find.

I'm gonna give the spaceship2thai a try. I have an addiction to Mother's Circus Animal Cookies that you can only order in the USA through Amazon who will NOT ship them outside the states. I've resorted to using iPostal and those &#^%&*!! charge an arm and a leg. They charge by package size, spaceship2thai says they charge by weight. Thanks for the tip.

The shipping cost and customs fees vary tremendously from item to item. With most things I look for the cost is too high and I don't order. But I've found a few items I wanted where free shipping was offered and the customs fees were about the same as I would have paid in sales tax if I ordered the item for delivery in the US.

The shipper will take your LINE ID and Thai address when you sign up, and give you their USA shipping address that includes your customer ID. You then use that address as the ship-to address with online sellers like Amazon.

You will pay the shipping cost via transfer to their Thai bank account once your goods are in Thailand.

They then forward your package via Thai EMS.

The one I use gives you an address at their warehouse. I ship to that address from the merchant. The Shipping Company consolidates the packages and sends them to me in Thailand. I usually use DHL (3 to 5 days).
