What Dish-washing Soap to buy in Thailand?: Or make your own?

Featured Replies

Dear Folks,

It is my opinion that not all dish-washing soaps are created equal, nor do they all work equally effectively on a pot caked in pork fat, or soup tureens smeared with chicken fat left after serving Chinese chicken soup.

Which is the best dish-washing soap to be had at the following stores:

MAKRO

LOTUS

TOPS

Tops sells its own brand. I have found nothing wrong with it. But, when not at TOPS, then what to buy, if anything, at MAKRO.

Makro seems to offer sort of low-end industrial products, or this might just be my mistaken impression.

Anyway, I buy by the JUG, and so I want to choose the best, this time around.

This might seem like such a little thing.

However, I am not the one doing the dishwashing, in most cases, so I ought to do and buy the right thing.

As always,

Keeping my hands dry, as much as possible,

Gamma

Note:  Why do so many westerners, and maybe even eastenders, swear by DAWN? I have never used dawn, and probably never will.

Also, what are EastEnders, for that matter?

Note2: I don't really care about using some TRUSTED SOAP to save the wildlife around here, meaning the wildlife in Pattaya. If it lives, then fine.

ONE FURTHER NOTE: I really do not anticipate needing to wash petroleum oil off the backs of ducks, either, although I know that Dawn is sometimes used for this...Therefore, I just need the most effective soap, at the best price, as possible....

Lucky for me, I have no wife, at the moment.

Still, I do not wash the dishes, myself.

Why would I?

I just need to find the best soap for the woman who does the washing; it's the least I can do.

Never a truer word spoken.

And, THIS, Sir, is what is wrong with 99% of all kitchens in Thailand.

I care about doing everything hygienically.

And, therefore, it is paramount that one begin with hot steaming water.

Yet, hot water does not exist.

Oh, well....Dear Me, Said Alice.

A jug? What country are you in anyway? Little bottles or big bags.

This stuff, in a big bag, no jugs.…

Are you suggesting that Gamma has a wife?

If so should she not be asking the question? 🤣

I just care about the quality of the contents, and not the packaging.

I have a few jugs and smaller bottles, on hand, of course, as most people do, at least, those people who....think ahead....

He's certainly implied he has a wife in another recent thread, though given the rest of his output, that might just be another Alzheimer's-induced delusion.

If, against all odds, she does exist, there's absolutely no doubt who's captain of that ship. Gamma's like one fabric softener recommendation away from starting a thread comparing the crease-retention of polyester blends while waiting for permission to speak.

I am not Catholic.

However, if I were, then I would still have a wife.

She exists, for sure....somewhere in California, I would imagine.

All stated in my comment here is absolutely true, and I stand by it, with ZERO reservations.

My HK Wife, a young woman I met, while I was attending UPenn, was tall and beautiful, and super smart, with long black hair.

Her brother, at the time, was at Penn doing his PhD in Computer Engineering, and his advisor was a rather famous dude, if you must know.

So, my wife was not at Penn, at the time, but she was attending a different uni.

We spent our days lying in bed, mostly, reading poetry.

Then, in the evenings, we would drive the 30.9 miles, returning to ChinaTown, Philly, gorge on Sichuan Food, sometimes have a few beers, and then drive back to Collegeville.

On the days when I had classes, this meant that I made two round-trips to Philly, a total distance of about 120 miles.

But I did not mind.

We had lots of fun in the car.

After I graduated, we spent time in East Asia, with even better food, and even more fun.

Those days in Philly, the early 1970s, were days when Chinatown was better than what you might see today.

The best times were during winter months.

Is there anything further that you might like to know about me?

My life is an open book on TV, as you know...

NO.

Our separation was due to her foul temper in the mornings, if she did not get her coffee served on-time.

I would also like to mention to you, my friend:

On occasion, I am suddenly and almost overcome with the desire to look-her-up.

I do have regrets, a few, that we, she and I, did not do a better job of making things work.

If I were to decide, all of a sudden, to find her, then how might I go about doing so?

Of course, I still remember her name.

I know her family address, or what it once was years ago, in HO MAN TIN.....

image.png

Would you be willing to help me locate my lost wife?

If so, then how should we begin?

Thank you, and now the ball is in your court....

Speaking to why she would have never left me:

a. You were not there with me and my wife, while we were making love in the back of my '60 Chevy.

b. If you had been there, you would not be asking this ridiculous question.

c. We had plenty of fun, just like Seger sang about, back then, when we were young and super hot...

She did have black hair, come to think of it.

She had those tight pants which left absolutely NOTHING to the imagination.

In fact, I often cautioned her that the shape of her, down there, was so apparent for all to see....that....

I worried too much that others might see exactly what I was getting.

But, I can tell you.....

She had eyes, ONLY FOR ME......

Can you believe it?

No need for Belief, because....

It was true.

Now, I worry:

How might I feel if I contact her, now, and find out she doesn't look quite the same as she once did....

Would I still feel so attracted to her?

So much to think about, before I begin my search for her in California.....

I also worry about the cost of hiring a Private Detective to find her.

Should I splurge, and pay, not knowing what the end result will be?

But I know, she has never truly gotten over me.

We were a pair of lovebirds, for sure.

If you say so, Sir.

However, as of this moment, I am simply DROOLING OVER what her bod once was, in the early 70s.....

She surpassed anything you might see, these days, with very few exceptions, here in Thailand.

I had the best, Sir.

And, what is it that is often said, and which is so true?

"Once you've had the best, who needs the rest?"

Somehow, I just, at this very moment, am agonizing over my wish to return to those days, and do her, once more, and have her do me.

I would give anything and everything I have to be locked, just once more, in loving embrace with her, for one long night.

Do you understand my agony, Sir, dealing with my memories of her?

NOTE: We are not talking about some SOAPY MASSAGE girl, with a bottle of Dawn, and a tub, in Pattaya, Sir....!!!!

Do you get my drift??????

NO.

NOT Shallow....

My wife, back in the 70s, was the perfect exemplar of the Chinese Version of The Girl from Ipanema...only...

Far Better.

Why did we lose the days we might have spent together?

Sometimes, we lose things we most love, just due to not realizing what we once had, at that particular time?

She tasted so great, too...

So sad, so sadly......

We were once deeply in love.

We were hot.

These days, I listen to Take Five, sometimes, just to recall the excitement she and I often experienced together...

Back in the Day.....in places like NYC, Philly, and Hong Kong.....

So.....

So much, for a Soapy Massage.....

How could such a thing interest me after what I had?

By the way, Folks......

Knowing that the Question-Mark Emoji is now available to all members, just to be Crystal-Clear, and to avoid any Ambiguity....

What is this Topic REALLY about?

Here is what it's about, but only in part, and ONLY in the First Part:

1. Primary Summary

The target document is a forum post authored by user "GammaGlobulin." The explicit primary function is an inquiry regarding optimal dishwashing detergents available at major Thai commercial retailers (Makro, Lotus, Tops). The stated material requirement is a bulk-purchased product capable of dissolving heavy animal lipids.

2. Structural Interpretation

The text functions as a consumer inquiry overlying a deliberate performance of expatriate behavioral tropes. The author establishes highly specific technical requirements for domestic labor materials while explicitly disengaging from the labor itself. Appended notes containing provocative statements regarding international product marketing and environmental conservation operate to solicit confrontational engagement rather than practical consumer data.

3. Identification of Implied Ironies

  • Labor Dissociation: A structural irony exists between the author's extensive technical demands for the soap's efficacy and the explicit admission of avoiding the dishwashing labor ("Keeping my hands dry, as much as possible"). The author exercises strict control over the material parameters of a manual task they refuse to execute.

  • Marketing Subversion: The author questions the popularity of the "Dawn" brand detergent. Dawn's primary marketing mechanism highlights its utility in cleaning aquatic wildlife following petroleum spills. The author subverts this by actively rejecting the product's environmental value proposition.

  • Semantic Double Entendre: The author denies concern for "wildlife in Pattaya." In the established sociological context of Thailand, Pattaya is recognized for its extensive adult entertainment and nightlife sectors. "Wildlife" operates as a deliberate, derogatory euphemism for individuals participating in the local nightlife economy, superseding the literal biological definition.

  • Linguistic Faux-Naiveté: The author artificially juxtaposes the demographic term "westerners" with the term "eastenders." The subsequent query regarding the definition of "EastEnders" constitutes feigned ignorance of the prominent British television broadcast, functioning as a rhetorical device to mock cultural categorizations.
