Great, so you're a huge Village People fan too because your Pedo Supreme Leader loves them. What are some your other favorite uphill gardener acts?

I thought the Village People were fantastic in 1980. I had a Can't Stop The Music tour poster on my bedroom wall - to be fair, I also had Status Quo, ELO, and Kate Bush up there as well.
I went to the cinema and saw the movie. Twice. And Xanadu, for that matter.
My eldest brother, eight years my senior, said, "You know they're gay, right?"
"Yep. And so is Elton John and you have half a dozen of his albums." (Yeah, he was nominally "bi" then, but I was thirteen and that was close enough for the argument with my 21 year-old brother)

Regardless of their implied sexuality - The Indian, for example, was camper than a row of pink tents, the majority, including Willis (The Cop) The GI, and The Biker, were, in fact, straight. Well, the original ones were, anyway. I couldn't tell you about subsequent members.

Like many late 70s-early 80s disco groups (liek the lip syncing Boney M, or KC and The Sunshine Band, The Village People were a tour de force and their musical legacy is solid, with YMCA, In The Navy, and Macho Man and others still having a strong following. The movie Can't Stop The Music? No so much. Although, the then Bruce Jenner was in it...

I am devastated.

Still, there is always YOUTUBE and decent recordings to post on TV, when required.

They were not gay.

They pretended to be gay in order to boost their image and to sell more records.

Cowboys, sort of like, amazing Taiwanese Director Ang Lee's, Brokeback Mountain?

Anyway, I really do not care.

I just love their music.

Never had a problem with any of them, as a few are in my family. Elton John, Freddie Mercury, Rob Halford, Lou Reed, Bowie, all top musicians and liked.

The vacuum song, from Mercury, is my favorite.

Best Queen was first four albums. After that pop took over. Still good, but the rock showed their harder side along with great ballads.

Bad songs. Never understand the fame

Victor Wills, lead singer of the Village People, once asked Donald Trump to stop playing his band’s music during his rallies.

In a resurfaced interview with BBC News World America, the “YMCA” singer said he liked that fans, no matter their political leanings, enjoyed the hit 1978 single and were still continuing to play it.

However, he stressed that neither he nor his group endorsed the US president. “We have even asked him to stop playing his music at his rallies.”

The singer, who was 75, died following a short illness on Monday (29 June).

So, what rights do politicians have when it comes to playing music during rallies, conventions or campaign events? The answer, says Alexandra Roberts, a professor of law and media at Northeastern University, is a little complicated.

A politician can’t just play any song they want because they are at a public venue. Just like any other kind of event, the organizers of political campaigns need to secure a license to get the right to publicly perform a song.

I don’t really care what you think about these songs that were popular back in the day.

Farangs don’t want anything to do with you, so you should just leave.

I avoid farangs cause they are miserable and uninteresting like you.

Get serious. Anyone who was around back in the 70s liked the Village People. I was there, actually, in NYC. The YMCA at the beginning of that video? That's the McBurney YMCA. I used to work out there every afternoon. I even had a locker there. None of it necessarily had anything to do with being "gay." The Village People made fun music, and everyone liked it, including, apparently, Donald Trump.

And that was the appeal. Not just the tunes (though a lot of them were great). It was the whole spectacle.

Like Queen and Michael J and Prince. Treasures. But maybe you had to be there... It was a different time.

Someone dies, and the people on here can't wait to disrespect him. Terrible behavior no matter your political side.

May he RIP.

Maybe, one cannot be completely straight if one wants to appreciate good music.

Yes.

It's good to be bent.

If one is bent in the right direction.

Always into most music, besides rap or hip hop, but not really into Michael Jackson or Prince, but they were great artists, and I do like a few of their songs, especially Michael's when he was young. Just watched Purple Rain recently on DVD. Decent movie. Grew up hearing Village People, and as one said, fun music although not my thing. Back in the disco times when the only reason friends and I went was the girls.

A different time? For me, it was just yesterday! And being there helped.

Disco times and the girls? I'm not sure people only went for the girls, although they were there, for sure. I could tell stories all night about discos in NYC in the 70s. Mostly, it was just good fun.

Most people went for the dancing. Rockers went for the girls, and tolerated the music because of that. Remember CBGB's for the punk rock and all the clubs in New Jersey for the disco scene (girls).

YMCA were great , it was a nice affordable option for many

The last one near me was converted into high end condos for the wealthy elite .

The Village People were a total vibe when they broke out onto the music scene , good times back then i.e. no internet hate
