Any hospital and also any stand-alone lab , but if using a stand alone lab be sure it is ISO certified, there are some unreliable ones out there.

If you have BPH (benigi enlargement of prostate, common in older men) I suggest to get not just PSA but also free PSA so the ratio can be calculated.

Would rsuhealth be a good choice for an annual health checkup for a 72yo male and 62yo female, or is better to use a hospital for annual health checkups? I've previously been to BKK Hospital in BKK and Prince Hospital out in Sisaket for annual health checkups.

I firmly suggest a govt hosp for annual health checks. They're often called Preventive Medicine Clinics. Anything that prevent taking medicine is good!

They'll do all your standard bloodwork, vaccines if desired, and address ant other things that may be troubling you and require specialised testing.

You don't need an overpriced private hospital!

I did and went for my blood test for manual check + PSA but when back at the dr for results, they didn't have PSA so dr talked to nurses and had to go back for another PSA blood test. The nurses didn't know what PSA meant so they just wiped it.

If you require a PSA test in Bangkok there are several branches of Bangkok Medical Lab.

Cost approx B1,400 with results by email the same day.

Highly efficient.

You try to use a clinic that uses a fit kit, it's easy and fast and you can do it at home, this is how we get test back in Canada

How it works: You collect a small sample using the provided tube and mail it to a lab for testing or drop it off to a lab.

I had my annual health check at the Roi Et government hospital earlier this week and it included a PSA test.

Its actually Prostate not Prostrate - as per Google search - "Prostrate" means to lie flat on the ground, typically face-down, as a sign of submission, worship, or physical exhaustion.

I'm a Chula patient & I never heard of this one.

The real benefit would be not having to wait for a doctor's appt to get the order. Just order any tests you'd like.

Why not go to a hospital where you would consider treatment/diagnosis if you have a problem? I only ask that question because a couple of years ago during a yearly physical my PSA was a high number (4+) indicating cancer. I was straight to the urologist who prescribed specific antibiotics. At a subsequent follow-up and retest the PSA indicated a low number (1) indicating no cancer. Lots of variables that can affect PSA, in my case it was an infection. At age 79, I do a PSA every 6 months now (as recommended by urologist) in conjunction with yearly physical that includes ultrasound which measures the prostate.

No sh*t! Did not know you could determine PSA and Free PSA from stool. Good info.

A digital exam is a must by an experienced urologist. Catches CA far earlier than PSA.

Ahh, we gotta die of something. Prostate CA is slow and painless.

My local government hospital, not in Bangkok, does it for 300 thb.

Not always slow. There are aggressive variants.

Extremely painful when it metastasizes to bone.

Isaan is a foreign country, they do things differently there.

I've just had minor surgery to remove infected tissue that left a wound needing careful management.

After three visits to the local clinic (the wound needs dressing every 24 hours) I've taken over and I'm looking after myself.....they do not have a clue.

If you are worried I'd go to Bangkok. If my wound starts to look iffy I'm off to Bumrungrad.

PSA is not a very good test. Too many things can affect it and I had two doctors fail to mention things that can affect it leading to me spending 7 months in Hell over the possibility of prostate cancer including lots of extra expenses for an MRI and biopsy. This was in the US, and I am still very angry about it.
