I got better thangs to do than watch a 30min youtube vid on Thai language.

I didn't watch the video, but with 100 well-chosen words you could speak and get your point across in a very limited way. But when normal Thai is spoken back to you, you're going to feel like a deer in the headlights. You'll know just enough to start a conversation, but not enough to finish it.

You need to know at least 3,000 words to speak any language well. The most important words are numbers, directions, food and transport.
