I always picked up one of the hotel cards on the way out... just to be sure!

Or take a screenshot of the hotel on google maps or take a photo of the hotel. Google maps saves the searches you do anyway. The guy must be real thick. THICK be a good tattoo for him

Went to Paris a few years ago to the France v Wales Six nations.

Got back to the hotel and there was a Welsh guy slumped, half asleep in our corridor.....I asked him if he was okay....he said yes, fine, but he didn't know which hotel he was to be staying in.

You posters who commented negatively about this guy are going to get old and make a few mistakes yourself.

The Tourist Police are a worthy venture both in Bangkok and Pattaya. Yeah, they rescued me from Patpong yonks ago!

It's not like back in my wilder days I never did similar stuff. Been there, done that. Young, dumb, and full of ........ stupidity. <laughs>
Rite of passage imho. Of course for those who claim they'd never do anything like that - man, you guy must live really boring lives. Come-on, you've never experienced a Coyote-Ugly moment?

Coyote-Ugly:
Waking up after a drunk hookup and realizing the chick (or dude or both) lying next to you is fugly — so nasty-looking in the sober morning light that you'd rather gnaw your own arm off like a coyote stuck in a trap just to sneak out without waking her and having to talk about it.Classic "beer goggles wore off" regret scenario. The kind of morning where you question every life choice that led you there and pray she doesn't remember your name.

I store the names of hotels on a phone. Even if I lost it I would remember the hotel location. Never picked a hotel without looking at a map. The guy must be on serious drugs or alcohol or losing his memory.

Heard a few stories of pattaya guys who lost their motorbikes after too many cocktails and bar hopping and maybe being told how handsome he was.,..one never did find it. Probably being ridden around in a village somewhere by now.

Stupid is as stupid does

Yonks ago when I was a police volunteer in Phuket, I and my colleagues spent hours driving around with a Swedish guy who had forgotten where he was staying, and we hoped he would spot his hotel.... finally found it :)

another more drunken british moron. Anybody surprised

Didn’t the police have access to his TDAC or TM30 information which give accommodation details? Why do we bother to give this information if no one uses it?

maybe he simply checked in another place

Too many tattoos to think clearly

haha,,,that happened to me on my first trip

My comment predates a lot of those options, but of course.

Hotel cards are a great idea though. Thai directions on the back. Phone no battery you still got the card.

I still have cards from 20 years ago somewhere. Should put them on a wall.

His tatts give all the information you would ever need about this voter.

LOL

I thought he was wearing a camo shirt under a vest.

Had to go back and see the photo again.

So the reality, they didn't succeed at anything and pawned him off to the embassy.

Hard to believe sometimes the tech and computerization of the country, and info can't be instantly sourced.

TDAC, or TM30, if more than 24 hrs checked in. Phone, contacts, Gmap / timeline, email, booking conformation.

Richard_Smith, spot on.

"This fella likely did something similar - checked in boozed up - and simply forgot".

I did the same in Las Vegas, just my room # not the whole resort. Completely smashed at the front desk 3AM.

Ya, I checked in, from then..........can you tell me my room # , please?

This brings back mixed memories for me from my alkie days.

Been there,got the t-shirt.

I remember when I was about 20 I was crawling over a speed bump in the road. Trying to figure out where I parked my car... Like to have never got over the speed bump, and never did find the car that night.

Sh$t happens!

Been there, done that almost, Got out to pee on a country road, and so drunk, couldn’t find where I parked my car. Slept in the cold that night, found my car pulled into a spot surrounded by trees/bushes, the keys still in it - taught me a lesson. As for forgetting my hotel, I never have had that problem, forgetting where it was has been issues on more occasions than I like to admit. I once walked around in circles for hours on Soi 4,6,8 only to finally catch a taxi told him the name, and he drove me across the street to Soi 11 and said 'Here it is, that will be 300 baht.’ Couldn’t argue with that one. Peace
