Pretty simple really — I was referring to the cash being in the condo, not physically carried by a person. If you genuinely thought buildings have wallets, that might explain the confusion 😄

It is grammatically correct to refer to a location, group or entity as “carrying cash.” English uses this all the time through metonymy — where the container or entity represents the people or contents associated with it.

Examples:

• “The truck was carrying cash.”

• “The convoy was carrying weapons.”

• “The unit was carrying confidential documents.”

So when I said the condo was carrying cash, normal people understood the cash was associated with/in the condo — not that the building itself had little arms and pockets 😄

Nah, seriously, bad stuff can happen to anybody who travels and takes ST or LT guests back to the hotel room. But well…no risk no fun.

Losing some money hurts but worse things can happen. I remember the case of a well-known musician who was on tour in the US and took a LB back to the room. He got robbed and claimed later he got drugged as well. He totally lost it, did run naked through the hotel and assaulted a woman when she opened her door.

This thing basically destroyed his career. Got stuck in the states until the law suit was settled and his reputation was out the window.

 

I’ve had an encounter with thieves once in a Phnom Penh massage parlour about 20 years ago but got lucky.

It can happen faster than you expect if you enter (or create) a high-risk environment…

Well, arrived to live in Thailand from Australia nearly 35 years ago, lived in BKK mostly where I ran few business

and bought some properties, but been visiting for many years for the obvious reasons, finally, at the age

of 75 and pretty comfortable, 4 years I have bought a very nice condo on Pratumnak hill in one of those swanky spacious condos over looking the bay from my 30th floor, So now you know.

Yes indeed.

I remember him too, now that you mention him.

Not a very prolific poster but he seemed like a decent sort.

In your wildest dreams you wouldn't see him in a situation where he loses a large sum of money to ladyboys.
