I'm not sure reducing a visa free entry from 60 days to 30 days is not going to stop idiots from being idiots - though I do agree, it may make Thailand less attractive for the bums to have to move on - the real issue is ineffective policing - this guy probably walked past 100's policemen in his time before social media blew this up.

As for cannabis control ? what control ? has there really been any increased control at all ? I haven't seen any.

As for 'paying to leave the country' ?? - there is no charge for leaving the country - it was floated that Thai's would have to pay a departure Tax when leaving - which is a pretty disgusting money grab IMO.

Thanks for your comments and I apologise for any misunderstandings. As I no longer live in Thailand, I rely on news media websites for information and these can be very misleading, especially on FB. Your corrections re: cannabis (for medical use) and the exit fee have been noted.

Marijuana laws have attracted the wrong crowd, many drug mules have hit that area too,

Rompho? It's a skint geezer hangout. Most of the women in the bars are topping up their Thai social security payments. Sometimes the geezers get a skinfull and scuffle on the filthy ground, but that's usually the extent of the rowdiness.

Let's hope Karma is swift with this clown

Christ ... seeing the guy come forward who did this and of course he had to be BRITISH.

More alarmingly it doesn't appear the authorities have taken any action over this.

Would be interesting to know what visa this guy is on.

From CrimeAsia :

British man defends putting monkey in his pants in Pattaya 🐵

A British man who sparked concerns when he stuffed a baby monkey in his shorts and nibbled its ear has defended his actions - and said that it is the animal's comfort zone.

The expat shocked bar staff when the macaque named George emerged from his clothes in Pattaya, Thailand. He then appeared to bite the primate.

But Lloyd responded to criticism. He said: 'My animals love me unconditionally, that’s a fact.'

The doting pet owner keeps the monkey with him at his sea-view condo in the coastal resort. They regularly go outside together, and in the room, George cuddles up with him on bed.

Lloyd said: 'I love my monkey like he's my son. The monkey lives his best life more than anything, but what was seen in the clip is not what it looks like.

'I had his ear in my lips playing with him, he likes it, and when I put him in my trousers, that’s because he feels safe and doesn’t try to run around.

'I have had animals all my life. I love animals. I’ve grown up with animals.'

Lloyd claimed that George the monkey 'belongs to a friend in Bangkok'. He did not say whether the macaque had been bought legally or if he had the paperwork to keep him.
