June 22Jun 22 I'll take a drunk driver over a geezer any day of the week, mostly because the geezers don't even know what day of the week it is or where they are half the time. This granny wiped out a bunch of other brittle boned grannies and walked away unscathed, like the drunks always do.

A handful are fine after 70 as long as it isn't dark out. Beyond that age they become a menace.

Driven all over Europe on the right in a right hand drive vehicle, and now over 15 years here.I do not regard myself as a menace, especially compared with younger drivers, both in UK and here. I wear specs and do drive at night.

I wear specs and do drive at night.I think its very individual.. vision and reactions go at different ages. You also make a valid point - younger reckless drivers are far more problematic.More of a concern are the older folk on motorcycles - IMO - for their own safety.I think in this example - the old fella was using two feet to drive - that seems to be the way most similar incidents occur - tapping the brake at the same time as accelerator and panicking - the issue is with the initial training.
June 22Jun 22 The MG 4 has Collision Detection and Avoidance, but none of that worked, the driver explicitly pressed the pedal and the logic assumed intent and disabled any safety automated braking, otherwise it could potentially trap a vehicle in a dangerous position during an actual evasive acceleration maneuver.
