Foreign man sought after Bangla Road assault

A Thai woman has filed a police report after a foreign man was filmed grabbing her by the throat and throwing her to the ground in Bangla Road, Patong, Phuket.

The incident took place on 18 July in Bangla Soi, Patong subdistrict, Kathu district. Footage was published on 20 July by the Facebook page Rueang Jing Tid Jor, or "Real Stories on Screen".

The video appears to show the man restraining the woman by the neck before throwing her onto the ground. He then allegedly attempted to continue the attack, leaving her injured, according to the post.

Friends of the woman intervened after witnessing the incident and separated the pair as onlookers reacted in shock.

CCTV clears woman of theft allegation

The Facebook post said the woman had been accused of stealing a bag by a Thai woman who was travelling with the foreign man.

However, CCTV footage was later checked and showed that the injured woman was not responsible for the alleged theft, the page said.

The victim has already reported the matter to police. The person who shared the footage said there were concerns the foreign man might leave Thailand before he can be found, and asked members of the public to provide information if they recognise him from the video.

Local residents have also called for help in publicising the case, seeking a swift effort to locate the man and proceed under the law.

Calls for a fair investigation

The footage has prompted widespread online criticism, with commenters urging authorities to quickly trace the man while establishing the facts fairly for everyone involved.

No identity or nationality for the foreign man was given in the post, and no police statement on the investigation was included in the information released.

Ah, the cops sure get to test their surveillance tech. I am impressed they caught the Aussie child murdering scumbag in Pattaya.

Thai police need to take this dirt bag when found, into the Back Room and find out what his problem is with Thai women.

Surly it was all just a bit of misunderstanding (for real).

Yeah, but on the other that would have been labelled as a deserved situation.

Punishment - one week in Muay Thai ring. Thai fighters enjoy straighting out foreigners. It's fair he receives a similar reaction from a more capable person, right?

Sometimes actions like that cross the line and leaves an incredibly long road of redemption ahead.

what a f"ing mess. The article reported "CCTV footage was later checked and showed that the injured woman was not responsible for the alleged theft". As it was reported that the foreign man and woman had been travelling together before the CCTV footage, could the theft have also taken place before the cctv footage??? Shows how fast people on the internet can come to their conclusions with limited information. Then again the falang could have droped his bag or misplaced it or got it stolen by someone else while drinking. And just came to the wrong conclusion. I think the young man should chalk this one up to experience and get out of the country as soon as possible. I am not saying he is a blameless victim, I am just observing drinking , youth and low-IQ are not a good combination.

Bangla Road...that is all you need to know.

Forget giving visa free admittance by nationality. Need to do it by age. Anybody under 50 from anywhere needs a stricter visa process.

I did: "The Facebook post said the woman had been accused of stealing a bag by a Thai woman who was travelling with the foreign man. Please elaborate on what I missed and why I should read the article again.

Patong and Pattaya: the meeting place of the scum of the whole world?

Did anyone actually read the article and watch the video?

It was the woman who was with him who accused the other woman of stealing.

Sometimes you are caught between a rock and a hard place. If he tries to stop or restrain her he can be accused of violence, as he is here.

Turns out that it was the wrong woman and so he should apologise and make recompense. Nothing more to it that that.

So he remonstrated with a woman whom his woman accused of stealing.

Your comment "Shows how fast people on the internet can come to their conclusions with limited information." appears somewhat ironic.

There are certainly a lot of bad actors in Thailand these days.

There is never a reason for a man to assault a woman, never, ever, ever unless it's self-defense.

What makes him a pathetic coward? How should he have behaved towards someone whom he thought stole his belongings?

It is illegal to initiate an assault towards another person unless it’s self defense. You can’t strike people for theft. It’s the job of the police to sort out. Your comment is a good example of people not understanding the laws.

You can't assault people based on beliefs. No proof of stealing and wrong person.

Yes very probably he would, Most people would never behave that way anywhere, it's not normal behaviour for a mature balanced adult But there are some who are just not wired up the same , and just like a toddler throwing a full blown tantrum, they literally cannot control themselves,

When they lose it , as this guy clearly did, they have absolutely no regard for the consequences of their actions and no fear of creating a public spectacle of themselves

As to what triggered him ? My guess is that he's an Incel and thinks he's bagged his first girlfriend, So being keen to impress and play the white knight , He took her at her word, and attacked the person who he believed had "wronged" her , Probably expected to recover and return the stolen bag and be rewarded with his first <deleted> .

But it all went wrong , the woman he attacked wasn't even carrying a bag from what I could see, and she certainly wasn't intimidated by the fat goatee bearded lump either and fought back ,

Bottom line is he's a nasty piece of work who is guilty of a violent assault , a custodial sentence is the only appropriate punishment ,

In addition to a public apology and a wai and the basket of "brands" and some cash

Or for any other reason really, (Well you can but there will normally be consequences)
