No, not necessarily.

He could have mined the coins. He could have rented miners that mined the coins. He could have sold an asset and wanted to be paid in crypto. He could have worked, and been paid in crypto. He could have scammed the crypto. The list goes on.

If he exchanged fiat money (GBP - cash) for crypto, through a crypto exchange, that transaction would have had some oversight, but not everyone with crypto initially went through a bank.

Was it actually a crypto to crypto transfer? Maybe it was converted to thief's GBP, hence the exact figure in GBP?
