Taiwanese Court Finalises Sentences in 522-Million-Baht Bangkok Property Scheme

Taiwan’s Supreme Court has upheld prison sentences for three men involved in an illegal investment operation connected to a Bangkok property development. Their company, Blue Ocean, promoted investments in The Harbour View Residences beside the Chao Phraya River and promised annual returns of approximately 6%. Between 2016 and 2018, the business collected around 522 million baht from 78 investors but stopped paying interest after the first year. Chief executive Li Chin-lun received 12 years in prison, chairman Liu Wei-ting was sentenced to 10 years and six months, and legal employee Huang Yao-cheng received three years and 10 months. A married couple accused of establishing the scheme fled to Thailand, with the wife arrested in 2024 and her legal proceedings still underway.
