Cannot see that China imports a lot of foodstuffs that Thailand cannot grow I have just finished eating a very nice Chinese apple, in our fridge is a pack of sweet peppers from China nice in a lot of dishes. Again, Thailand does not grow them, and some other fruit and veg., but one thing Thailand needs to look at, is the quality of Chinese fruit and veg is good Thailand is still a rice-growing country; a lot goes for export of the fruit and veg grown most is used in the country, durian being the one big exporter. A few years ago a Middle East country, Saudi? rented vast acreage in the Ayutthaya province, to grow rice using local farmers, then exporting it back to they country; as far as I know worked well, As for Chinese growing fruit and veg in Thailand, not enough money in it for them. Thai farmers are not the most efficient of farmers, bar rice and Cassava, a big export to China.
