The purpose of the state pension is not to pay off the mortgage, it is to provide a sufficient income to enable an individual to have a decent standard of living and quality of life in retirement.

You missed the point entirely. My point was that the current generation who receive state pension probably all have homes where they paid off their mortgages 20 years ago as the average house price used to be 3 times annual salary. Now its something like 10 times (or more) annual salary. The percentage of people who own their homes outright when they get to pension age will be nothing like it is today. How do you think the average pensioner on state pension will cope when they have to pay £1500 rent per month on a not much more than £12,500 a year salary? Whats your plan for this?

So the hard working citizens that pay for the NHS will not benefit from their funding it, while the lefts beloved dingy sailors and other grifters will get it all free. Classic labor stuff!

I don't have a plan, but given that +/-80% of pensioners own their property, inheritance may go some way to mitigating against the problem. It may also be necessary to also build more social housing/ subside rents to help those in financial difficulty.

Like all previous governments, I doubt that this administration has a plan to address - and finance - this issue as it is too far down the line for them to worry about. That may well be short-termism, but this Labour government is no difference to any previous Tory administration and I dare say any possible future Reform led government in that regard.

You appear to want this government to find an immediate solution to all the UK's current and potential future problems. Imo that is unrealistic although you may think otherwise and have a plan yourself?
