Swedish Interpol Suspect Arrested in Phuket Over Alleged Fraud Scheme

A Swedish woman wanted under an Interpol Red Notice was arrested in Phuket over allegations connected to a large-scale public fraud operation. Police said the woman, identified only as Felicia, allegedly worked with more than 14 accomplices who posed as bank and finance company employees in early 2022. The group is accused of making more than 163 fraudulent calls that persuaded victims to transfer money, causing losses exceeding 60 million baht. Immigration officers tracked the woman to Wichit after determining that she had entered Thailand through Ranong in January and later extended her tourist stay until August 31. Her permission to remain in Thailand has now been revoked, and authorities plan to deport her to Sweden through the appropriate immigration procedures.
