Meanwhile......

Please listen to Tim Lenton, out of the UK....at the United Nations....OK?

Obviously, OBVIOUSLY....

We are going to Hell in a HANDBAG.......

Some people say we will soon suffer a population implosion, and let us not mention names....MUSK.....but.....

In your neighborhood......

Have you recently experienced a population implosion?

Here is what overpopulation REALLY looks like in Napels, Florida, USA......

Naples was one of the best places to live, on a good day, as I recall.

These days, however, it has been ruined, after rebuilding.

Go there, buy there, if you wish.

So, anyway.....

After spending most of my life, about 50 years, in Asia....

I am thinking about buying this tiny house on Nantucket.

image.png

I will be happy to return to my roots, after so many years abroad.

But, will I be welcomed home as a long-lost whaler?

For sure: New England is the best of America, what is left of it...anyway.....

Rents for $9,000 a week in off season and up to $12,000 a week in the peak summer season. You have a lot more money than I thought. Jeez.....

Seeing you couldn't really have left the US before age 18 or so, with money from relatives, where did you work in Asia? I'm guessing you're at least 68.

Here is a better question:

a. Let us say that world population increases, as follows...plus or minus.....

image.png

b. And let us say that growth of wealth continues, and consumption continues, comensurately....then.....

WHAT do you think might happen?

c. Even in Texas, the impact will be shattering.

d. Do you think? Even Texas does not have enough meat...

image.png

Or, am I wrong, Sir?

============================================

And, what about this graph, for example......

image.png

NOW, do you see why I am thinking about decamping to Nantucket....?

Once the Garbage hits the fan....and shortages begin....then....it will be better to be on an island, living off whale meat and fish.

Which doesn't answer my question of where you worked in life, and how you came to Asia to live so young.

Left at 19, and, so far, have not regretted the decision.

(Returned, for a brief time, to attend uni, as you already know.....)

At least, I never lived in the Pine Barrens.

Instead, we lived in a civilized way, in Cape May Point.

Nantucket? No, never been there.

Why on earth would any normal person want to go to that stick up the butt island full of snobs? 😂

I go to Martha's vineyard. Oak Bluff. Good God.

Hope you don't choke on a $50 mini lobstah roll

I used to pay $8 for those on North Beach, stopped buying them after the price in Brooklyn went up to $20.

Okay, bought a $45 dollar one near the airport in the Valley in San Francisco, what a mistake.

Very nice!

There was a young sailor named Bates

But a fall on his cutlass

Has rendered him nutless,

Many years ago, I had a book

The Lure of the Limerick

Yeah, lets do limericks !!

An internet troll sat and typed,
With anger and fury, he hyped.
He raged on the screen,
Extremely unseen,
Then logged off and quietly wiped.

The rich bought up half of Nantucket,

But choked on the swarms and yelled, "<deleted> it!"

With no "peace and open air"

Left for them anywhere, ...

Take back your place, and suck it.

Is this limerick OK?

Why are Topics discussing greener-pastures so very often posted on TV?

If not Nantucket, then where?

Is there NOWHERE good enough for the likes of us?

I believe there MUST be somewhere.....somewhere.....

Somewhere, there must be a place for us...

SOMEWHERE with PEACE and QUIET...for us......

Somewhere...if not here......

At 19 you came to Asia, and have stayed here since, 50 years. How does one do this unless they are being paid by relatives or won the lottery?

So, one of my MAIN questions is WHY we cannot ALL go shopping on Rodeo Drive?

Surely, on Rodeo Drive, motorbike noise is almost nonexistent.

SOME GIRLS, have ALL the Luck......

Rodeo Drive is so overrated. A walk through most upper scale Thai malls will rival RD and not to mention Singapore Malls.

Not been on one of GGs threads for a while, not many other contributors are there.

He will be missed.

some humans don't care about the earth or other humans but what they can get for themselves while here

Yes.

And, does this not sum it all up, in a nutshell?

Can we not change "some" to "most"...?

Strangely enough, the more we need caring for the Earth, and for other humans, the more diluted our caring seemingly becomes, as our numbers approach 10 Billion.

Might it be true that we had a "set amount" of caring, when our population was less than 3 Billion?

And now that our numbers are almost 9 Billion, our caring for one another has been diluted, commensurately?

Will we live to rue the day?

Is there a stranger curve than this one?

And, if Nantucket is now so expensive, then.....what about Kyushu?

This is really such a strange curve:

Maybe....Time to Marry a Japanese Lady????

Such a very STRANGE curve........

If you cannot afford Nantucket...then.....

Just head for JAPAN.....

So Strange.....

Must be the Season of the Witch.

Housing Prices in Japan are in the Ditch......

Wish I were young enough to find a beauty in Japan.

Two rabbits runnin' in the ditch.

When I go....

I will let you know.

It seems like every day brings a new emergency for you.

Do you agree that we should quarantine Californians, and also prohibit Californians from buying property located in other states?

This seems like an emergency that needs addressing, immediately.

Much of California is not, actually, part of the USA, as you know.

So, why can't we just treat California as the foreign land it already is?

Or, would you object to this...also...?

Dear Folks

Speaking of Nantucket and Harpoons, have you ever been there?

There are plenty of old women, mostly whales, who might fund the rest of my life.

Neigh….!!!

I will not be going to Nantucket solely to conclude my rise in life by sticking it to some old bags.

I am thinking of going to Nantucket to just get away from the noise of Thailand, and enjoy, for a spell, a bit of peace and quiet, with the sound of the surf blowing in my ears.

Have you ever been to Nantucket?

I have.

The surf is rather dangerous, in fact.

You cannot just swim out during a storm, and expect to return.

From what I know about Nantucket, it’s a small island, full of fever.

There has been a remarkable murder there, as you know.

Still, due to the noise outside my house in Thailand, I am at wit's end.

If I cannot find some place quiet, in Thailand, after so many years, then…

Why not try Nantucket?

Being a clam tycoon on Nantucket sounds better to me than what is now happening to me.

I just want a QUIET PLACE.

I have no need of dental floss, these days, which is the least of my worries.

Is there….REALLY any quiet place in Thailand?

I think NOT…..

Best regards,

Gamma

Note: I will be willing to EXPAND upon my meaning, and the IMPORTANCE of QUIET, in case anyone might wish to ask.

I am sick of these motorbikes, and listening to riders fall off them….to kingdom come.

Nantucket is a better place, no matter how small.

Note2:  If I am, finally, unable to find a quiet place in Thailand, then….I am OUT OF HERE…for sure, even though I realize I will always regret the leaving of this superior place.

NANTUCKET.

Note3:  Sometimes, no matter what, the street noise of Thailand gets the better of one, unfortunately.

SUCH A WONDERFUL AND UNFORGETTABLE SONG/EXPERIENCE:

Yes.

I will be Going to Nantucket Soon.

No need to come visit me, though.

Something wrong with you. Plénty quiet places in Thailand.

Maybe you should stay in Nantucket.,

One of the greatest pieces of American poetry had to do with Nantucket. .........."the lady from Nantucket" or something like that. I only remember it ended with "F**k it.

Anyone living in the Pine barrens is in a quiet, laid back spot. beautiful scenery and a myriad of lakes and streams, along with wildlife. I lived in northern New Jersey but fished down there and will to return when we move back to the states.

Say hi to Captain Carl he runs the ferry from Hyannis to Nantucket .His tie to Thailand runs through Sakon Nakon.
