Four senior officers from Din Daeng Police Station have been transferred away from their posts while an inquiry examines an alleged illegal gambling operation uncovered in the Bangkok district. The move followed a raid on rented rooms in Soi Prachasongkhro 14, Yaek 11, Din Daeng sub-district, on 23 September. Officials said 53 people were detained, including 45 alleged gamblers and eight alleged organisers. Raid led by deputy interior minister Worasit Liangprasit, the deputy interior minister, led the operation alongside Department of Provincial Administration director-general Nucha Kosaisawilai and the department's DOPA S.W.A.T special operations team. They were joined by administrative officers and police under Pol Col Pasit Katuengngan, superintendent of Dindaeng Police Station. The operation, named "Multiple Lightning Raids on Din Daeng Gambling Den", began at about 6.30pm following complaints that unlicensed gambling was taking place. Authorities said those detained comprised 22 men and 23 women alleged to have been gambling, plus six men and two women accused of organising the activity. Nobody claimed ownership of the gambling venue. Officers seized 350,000 baht in cash, gambling chips said to represent about 635,000 baht, hi-tech hi-lo equipment, other gambling equipment and account books recording money circulation. All suspects were taken to Dindaeng Police Station for legal action. Fact-finding panel appointed On 24 September, Pol Maj Gen Worasaek Phisitbannakorn, commander of Metropolitan Police Division 1, announced that he had signed Division 1 Order 203/2569, dated 23 September, appointing a fact-finding committee. The committee is chaired by Pol Col Somsak Iam-im, deputy commander of Metropolitan Police Division 1. Its members are Pol Col Wittayakorn Suwanruangsi, an investigation superintendent; Pol Lt Col Nuchanart Khanduang, deputy investigation superintendent; Pol Lt Col Panipat Chansuk, investigation inspector and secretary; and Pol Sub Lt Donlanai Thiansanart, deputy investigation inspector and assistant secretary. The panel has been told to establish whether any individuals were connected with the case, and to report its findings promptly. The order cites Section 68 of the 2022 National Police Act. Four officers sent to division operations centre A separate order, No. 204/2569, dated 23 September, moved four Din Daeng officers to the Metropolitan Police Division 1 Operations Centre, detached from their former posts, from 24 September until further notice. They are Pol Col Pasit; Pol Lt Col Saran Suradechanon, deputy investigation superintendent; Pol Lt Col Udom Kanoknapakul, prevention and suppression inspector acting as deputy superintendent; and Pol Lt Col Prawit Kongchumphon, investigation inspector. Pol Col Chayuti Pongsak, investigation superintendent at Metropolitan Police Division 1, has been assigned to act as Din Daeng superintendent in addition to his existing role, without leaving his original post.
