Well if it's a synagogue run by Chabab then it is of great concern. I don't know that to be the case. I remember going to a Chabad house on Samui about 15 years ago and I was definitely welcomed as an American Jew. However I don't know whether or not things have changed and if so to what extent.

You can live in denial if you wish, but the “My money built your country” clip and “Don’t you know this is Israeli territory “ clip made all the Thai news stations on prime time TV and the presenters explained it in Thai to the public not once but repeatedly.

There are 5 adults in my household, 4 of them Thai and they all asked me if I knew any Israelis. I can tell you those 2 clips did as much damage in Thailand as Al Jazeera with their coverage of Gaza atrocities did in the West.

Their land, people and culture was insulted in a way from which there is no coming back. It cemented Thai public opinion. Face is everything to Thais.

The damage from those 2 clips was immense and yes, Thai people will judge all Israelis and all Jews because of it.

Israeli passport holders will be right at the top of the list of nominees and land probes simply because of this.

IMHO the Israeli government didn’t fully understand the gravity of it and mishandled it.

Yes, agree, but not sure how a Thai would know someone is Jewish with a different passport (provided they don't have an Israel flag sewn on to their daypacks). Anyway, Jews and Israelis should learn from this - regardless if they think it's unfair. Some years ago, the Chinese government was horrified at the bad publicity its tourists were getting in Thailand and acted. Chinese tourists can still be loud and to some annoying, but I think they've learned to be more aware of the cultural sensitivities due to their government's intervention. Aside from illegal businesses - a problem with foreign nationalities from many countries here - the Chinese aren't in the news as much anymore.

Keep in mind that Israel has killed thousands of Palestinians* in the last several years including many children. Plus netanyahu (and s a few other keneset parliamentarians) have made a lot of anti palestinian / anti muslim comments / been very destructive of palestian houses / schools and more. There;s little doubt in my mind that this generates strong anti Jewish feelings.

I think the mob includes some of the better educated Thais who know about what Israel is/has been doing against the Palestinians in a thinly veiled attempt to annex all of the land from the river to the sea and more north and south. But I also agree with others, that it is also part of Sondhi's flock - his rental mob that fly into action whenever he tells them there is a valid cause. So it's a bit of both. We'll see them again protesting another nationality. Sooner than later I suspect.

Go watch the video, or just listen to it while going through all the comments in Thai, which on YouTube can be easily translated in to English, at the click of a button, this has gone out nationwide, yes, we know 5% of Thai's are Muslim, but still I think the majority of Thai's are of the same opinion, especially when you hear what the Thai government official are saying.
