Is There A Way To Flash Or Clear Memory On An Sd Camera Card?

One of my 512k SD cards works fine except that images loaded from my computer -- in correct JPEG format and camera nomenclature -- do not appear on the camera's screen. They are on the card when viewed on the PC's e: drive. The slider which locks the card is open. It seems that the formatting within the SD card has become corrupted but formatting it inside the camera does not clear the problem. Is there any other way to format / clear memory on an SD card? Thanks.

Put the card in the PC then from explorer or My Computer right-click on the drive for the SD card and choose 'Format'.

I wonder if the camera has indexing issues with files that it hasn't created? That's one thing you may want to ask a camera expert.

Sadly formatting via My Computer does not work. And the files I want to add from computer were taken by the same camera and card, and not renamed! Very odd. The formatting within this particular card must have become fatally corrupted. My other SD card (another brand) does what I want. And the problem one works fine within the camera, and downloads to PC via the e: slot. Just doesn't want to display its old images, although they appear on e:.

My camera's inbuilt software is picky about what images it will display on the camera's screen when uploaded to the SD memory card from my PC. If I have re-saved the image while on my PC (eg after rotating it), then it will not display on the camera screen when uploaded back to the memory card. But the images are definately there. When I take the card to the photo shop they are able to make prints OK.

If you have changed the images in any way that includes re-saving them, then that may be your problem (even if the image has not been re-named or changed format).

BTW, the card is not visible from Explorer while still in the camera when connected to the PC. It is only visible from within the PC software that came with the camera. But the card and all images ARE visible from an external card reader under Explorer. So I can see that the images are fine even if the camera doesn't want to display them when I re-insert the card.
