September 20, 200718 yr i had recurring fungus infections for many many YEARS doctors insisted it was not diet related and i tried many meds, mostly topical in the end... once i finally cut out sugar, especially in dairy (ice cream) the problem vanished and never came back and sugar cravings vanished too it is hard to stop sweets and if i start again the cravings return too in Thailand i seem to have recurring UTI's i believe i simply stopped with the antibiotics and eventually it seems to clear up any helpful info about UTI's??? i think it is true what i read that infections are harder to cure in hot and moist environments like Thailand
September 20, 200718 yr Author i think the infection is finally gone for good but just in case anyone needs to know it for future reference, i did a lot of reading on the subject and the problem was probably either yeast that is resistant to meds or a different species of yeast that doesn't respond to the class of antifungal drugs you normally use. i think it was the former. found a recommendation to take diflucan (fluconazole) once every 3 days for a week, then spread it out to once a week, then once every two weeks, etc. until there is no more problem. there is a generic thai version of this medicine that is cheaper. also use a vaginal tablet called nystatin (the same one sheryl recommended) to kill yeast inside as well as other problematic bacteria. it also helps immensely to wet a cotton ball with hydrogen peroxide and wipe it all over externally. chok dee kha...
