Non-o Visa, Wp & Extension Of Stay.

Featured Replies

I came to Thailand on a multiple entry non-imm O visa, giving the reason that I was looking to invest in a business. I now have a share in a company that owns a hotel/bar/restaurant. I want to start working there and paying myself a salary.

Can I apply for a work permit on my current visa, or do I need to change to a non imm B?

If I can apply for the WP on my current visa, is it possible to pay myself a certain salary that will allow me to get an extension of stay and not have to do the 90 day border runs?

Thanks.

In my experince I had a non-imm O and applied for a WP without any problem.

Need a salary (& pay tax) on at least 65,000 baht/month for the one year extension.

WideWheels, in the same sequence as your questions: yes, no, yes.

Thanks for the reply. I went to see my lawyer yesterday about this but I was told something slightly different. From what I could gather, I could apply for the work permit on my current visa but could only get the extension of stay if I was married to a Thai (which I am not). If I wanted an extension of stay based on my salary I need to go to Penang and get a non imm-B, and then apply for the work permit.

If this is the case, it's not a major problem, I was just hoping to avoid an unnecessary trip to Penang.

Or I could marry my girlfriend I suppose :o

Can any of the law firms on these forums that deal with this sort of stuff shed any more light?

Cheers,

Widewheels.
