Madder Root And Natural Dyes

Featured Replies

I am in Bangkok this week and next week will be on the family farm about an hour and a half from Khorat.

Where is the best place to buy unusual seeds and roots for natural dyeing?

Madder root is first on my list.

Would the local Thai government agriculture office be best? Or a university? Or?

Try to find people who dye fabric and thread and ask them....

Hi Sam125

Few years ago I joined a research group of natural dyes in Chiangmai and remember that we had to order the madder root to the local people (hill tribe) to look for it from the forest and we bought the root on kilo.As you are close to Korat,I remember there's a reservation garden of natural dyes plants in a University (may be...Rajchaphat ...not sure ) in KHON KHEN.

Ask for informations from the KHON KHEN university ...may be sth there. good luck
