Interior Minister Aree Wongaraya yesterday ordered provincial governors to take tough action against entertainment venues which stay open beyond the legal limit and cater to underaged customers.

Provinces which fail to conform would face immediate punivatve measures, Mr. Aree told the governers through a teleconference yesterday.

The law allows entertainment outlets to be open until 1 a.m. and patrons must be ar least 20 years old.

I wounder what will happen in Samui where many venues and bars stay open until 6 a.m. Up til now there have only been one law followed in this island; THE JUNGEL-LAW

Hopefully the local Council and Powers to be, will let the businesses decide when to close, as this law is detrimental to cahsflow and entertainment of much needed tourists!

Zones would be a solution, many venues DO control the age of their patrons and (in most cases) obviousely drunk "trouble-makers" are send off the premises!

well informed "night-owl"...

There was a lot of moaning before entertainment zoning was done. Mainly by the party people = tourists, because places were closing so early. Since they are the once bringing in the capital to run things around, I think it fair that they get a chance to party. If you want to live in quiet and peace take this advice; Don't move next to Chaweng Party Zone area. There's plenty of other places where you only hear roosters...:o

I doubt anything will change here and the reason is that Bkk was the one that issued these party zones.
