I have a contract with Loxinfo but no longer live at the address of the installation. And I want to cancel the contract.

The contract is in my name but at the house of a former girlfriend.

Loxinfo want 6,000 Baht to cancel the contract + the 2,000 Baht deposit. Part of this cost (2000 Baht) is to get from BKK to her house 300 kilometres away. I feel a total of 8,000 Baht is excessive.

I really want as little as possible to do with the former g/f and am reluctant to go there to sort it out when I get back to Thailand in several weeks.

On the other hand I do not want to see her persued for the money - especially as she does not have that kind of money.

I am due to phone Loxinfo this week and would welcome any ideas on what course of action to take, also if Loxinfo can chase the ex g/f for the money as it is in my name..

Just write on the invoice "See you in court!", take a copy for your reference, and send it to them. You will hear nothing after that.

Understood George & thanks.

My main concern was not to have them hound the ex for the cash. I may not be with her any longer, but I am not that mean minded to leave her with any aggro.

I'll be in touch with Loxinfo regarding the matter later today.

I take it that it's one of those contracts which say you must use it for 6 months/1 year or face a penalty (the 6,000 baht, I guess). Well, there's no getting out of it, you agreed to the contract. This is a reason why I chose a non-time-restricted contract when I signed up for loxinfo a long time ago. I opted to not get a "free" router to not face penalties. Then, when I cancelled, I just simply e-mailed them and asked for a cancellation form, which I then faxed them, and got my cancellation.

Weigh your options, and see if it's cheaper to just pay the monthly fee until the obligatory usage period is over, and the cancel.

Update.....

Just wanted to say, George, I phoned them up and sent an e-mail as they now requested. Dish removed and no charges involved even though it is about 6 weeks since I left that house.

Thanks :o
