I'm after some surf shorts or boardies as they're often called.

I'm happy to pay american or europe prices for quality, but I don't know where to go in bkk.

Or if anyone can recommend any places that sell fake but high quality boardies which you can try on please let me know. Ideally looking for Abercrombie and Fitch, quicksilver and all those "quality" brands

Many many places. Khao San Road, Sukumvit, Silom or Chatachack market. I bought a pair of quicksilver(fake) in 2001 and they lasted for 3 years.
