Looking For Advice On Getting A Cat

A lot cheaper than I expected. Are there still Samui/Pattaya flights or would I have to go to Swampeepoon?

You probably don't know--if not I'll ask in the Pattaya forum, they should know.

Edit: I looked online, it appears Bangkok Airways does the route. Checking into cargo rates is the next step, an email is being written.

They don't seem to reply to emails so I guess I'll have to try to figure out things some other way.

elfe some questions:

1. The transport box is something the airline supplies or we would have to buy?

2. I looked back at the pictures--it looks like there are 5 kittens: 2 tabby/orange kittens, one tri-color kitten, one darkish tiger-striped kitten, and one white and orange kitten? Is that correct and still what you have?

3. What sex and age are they are how are they related (for example it looks like the two tabby/orange kittens might be from the same litter).

4. What can you say about the temperament and personality of each kitten?

5. How do they get along? Since we are thinking of adopting two so they'll have a companion, are there any that get along better with each other?

6. They all seem to be short-haired. Is that true? I'm a bit allergic to long-haired cats or cats that shed a lot but I didn't have any problems with my last cat, so I'm a bit concerned.

Sorry to have so many questions! They just started flowing out as I wrote. :o

Cheers for now,

jimmyd

edit: added a question

hi jimmyd thanks for your interest.

the transport box has to be your own. i got one here which is suitable, as the cats are still small i guess they can go together in one box, it's only one hour flight approximately.

i got males: one white with grey tail, grey spots on ears and round spot on back, he is now 6 months and very lovely and playful and affectionate.

another male white with grey spots, from the other litter, 5 months old.

the tiger striped is male too and 5 months old.

females: 2 tricoloured ones, two white with orange, two orange tiger and one orange tiger with white face and feet.

all are lovely but most lovely with me the white male with spot (dot) and his tricolor sister linti and the 3 handraised orange tiger girls.

they all get along very well, grew up together as they are either from the same litter or 'cousins'. they are playful, eat a lot and are funny as can be.

only the two orange tiger and the orange tiger with white are from a litter outside and grew up seperately (i handraised them with the bottle from age two weeks as their mom had died and someone gave them to me, hoping one of my mums would take them on, but didn't), the others did not like them from the start or feared the stranger babies. now they live all together in one room (due to so much rain outside) and they get along quite well but occasionally hissing at the 3 'outsiders'. so maybe for you either two of the red tigers or two from all the other ones.

would you let them roam outside as well and do you live close by road or have dogs in neighbourhood?

would you castrate them not long after they would arrive with you? if not i will have to do this first as i cannot rehome any animal without being neutered ie my rescued animals are not meant to reproduce, (also this is order from the association which supports my animals).

they are all short haired, ordinary street cats :o

There's no way you should be thanking me: I'm quite selfish compared to what you obviously do for so many animals.

To answer your question, I'll castrate them if I get the males, the poor fellers. I'll never be totally OK with it, but I accept that it is the right thing to do in the greater scheme of things.

The tri-colored ones are lovely. Is linti 6 months old like dot?

The tigers are also great, but if I took two of them, the remaining one might be a bit isolated.

By the way, here's our last master, the kind soul who adopted us:

your master looks very happy :o

yes linti is dots sister, they were only two in this litter.

also females have to be neutered...

I know they all need to be neutered. Life is tough.

The super supreme master arrives home from work in a few minutes, I'll discuss it with her then. I'm betting she's going to love linti. Any pictures of spot?

The boss is here. Linti and Dot look absolutely lovely. We have a great feeling about these kittens. I would like to find a way to make this work.

the boss and jimmyd

hi jimmyd and boss, that's very great news :o

i suggest i let the two neuter tomorrow or the day after tomorrow and they can be sent to you latest in two weeks time. hope you are ok with that.

My wife say yes and so do I. Perhaps we should switch to pm for the details? I don't want to bore others with technical stuff.

I love a happy ending!!! Keep us posted on the outcome....

Yeh, I was also enjoying to read this progress.

Please, let us know the outcome with pic's naturally. :o

Nienke

Yes, I too have been very happy to hear this happy story unfolding. Do post pix of the 2 of them when they arrive.

I've always loved calico (tricolored) cats, grew up with one. Cambodians and and I think also Thais believe them to be lucky.

And its so nice to be able to keep them together. Many people don't realize it, given cats' reputations for being loners, but very deep lifelong bonds sometimes form between cats, especially littermates.

hi jimmyd, i sent you a pm :o

Unfortunately a family crisis has put adopting a cat on hold for a while at least, so it looks like that happy ending isn't likely any more.

My apologies to elfe and to the little ones.

Well he did ask some strange questions. A cat is a cat is a cat.

Sorry about that elfe but i am sure you will find great homes for all your wee ones, and when i am in samui next year i shall come by and visit.

am sorry for your problems jimmyd.

patsycat, you're welcome anytime :o

well good homes for my cats or dogs, i don't think anymore they are out there, trying to find them for long time and offering my rescued animals like sour beer but never works out. either no one's interested, or the place is too dangerous or the people don't have enough time and so on. guess i will keep them, best for all :D but won't be able to rescue new ones, just keeping the ones i got well.

I think it will be around september and i shall definetly come and spend a couple of days with you and your babes.
