Hi All

Got a promotion with my TOT bill this month they are offering to upgrade 256/128Kbps ADSL @ 500฿ to 1024/512Kbps for just an additional 90฿ per month.

Ms D phoned them and it seems genuine but the offer is only till end of October and we have to go to the Krabi office to apply.

I read lots of complaints about TOT. I have ADSL TOT down here in the boonies near Krabi and to be honest have no real complaints. Sure get the down and slow times but the service center Ms D calls is always helpful so considering where we are I am a satisfied customer.

I've been paying 1000 baht for a TOT 1024/512 line for ages. Does anybody else have details about this. It seems obvious that TOT has to compete with TT&T (590 baht for 1024/512 or 1000 baht for 2048/512). Will they increase my speed to 2048 and keep charging me 1000 a month or reduce my billing to 590 a month and keep the same speed?

Others have said the 'standard' policy is to double the speed not halve the bill..

Here on Phuket mine is still 1024/512.. I keep checking to see if theres any upgrade.

I've been paying for the same package and have noticed some improvement over the last few days. Early mornings have been much faster, the afternoons have been a bit better than before but the speed is still lousy in the evenings. I was told they were going to double the speed for the same price.

That makes sense. I can't imagine TOT wanting to collect less money from me every month.

Has anyone had their ADSL DL speed upgraded from 1024 to 2048, yet? Does it happen automatically, or do I have to go to the local TOT office and request it?

Even in Isaan TOT made that upgrade deal available as of September 12 this year. I upgraded from 256/128 to 1024/512 last week and it works. One has to go to TOT and ask for that change as it will not happen automatically. I know pay THB 590 instead of THB 500 previously.

Technically the speed is certainly there. In my opinion the big knot however still remains with the Bangkok servers (or anywhere else), as I did not see any really significant improvement whith content from Europe or the US. With that speed I really do much much better in Europe!

Now it is holiday time in Isaan and you can feel it when all the kids are hanging around their computers. Moreover, last Sunday Bangkok was down from 5 am to about 2 pm.

Thanks for the info, Naam

Mine was still at 1024 when I left for work this morning, so I think I'll drop by the office on the way home to remind them to set me up with the higher speed.

I've had the 1M/512Kbps with TOT for almost a year. After reading these posts I checked my bill and it said I have 2M/512Kbps.

Went to Speedtest.net and had 562 in BKK (from BKK) and 70 to US. I guess they haven't actually upgraded the speed then, just the bill details (still at Bt1,000)!

Called TOT and they couldn'y check the website with my details because it was down!!

You gotta laugh!

I live in pattaya and had my speed upgraded to 2048/512 about ten days ago.Speedtest on thaivisa will give me about 100 Kbps download if I'm lucky.Had the technicians(lol) over many times already. What they do is some speedtests and then after 30 minutes or so they will tell you that TOT has problems.Last week they were here again and same story ofcourse so they contacted their manager.I told her that TOT has problems giving service for the past 7 months but their billing department hasn't had any problems sending me the bill every month. So I told her I will not pay anymore as long as I don't get service and gave my last statement back with the technicians.Probably they will disconnect me soon but who the <deleted> cares, dial up is faster.

They upgraded mine from 1024 to 2048 about a week ago with no request(Kalasin).

That would be lovely if it F'ing worked. I got upgraded to 1.5 Meg down, 512k up///I am lucky to get 56k down on a good day. There must be an oversight agency one can complain to. I have been paying for 512/256 for over year and I have never seen more than 150 down. I am angry enough to recommend anyone avoid ToT!

My wife refuses to call any more. The typical service tech couldn't pourpiss out of a boot if the instructions were written on the heel. and no one, of course, speaks english.

Thanks for the info on this one. I was on 512/256 but phoned about the upgrade you mentioned, was told I'd be done that evening because I'd asked for it, and next day ADSLThaliand speedtest showed that my DL/UL had tripled in real terms.

Excellent result!

I'm totally confused. I have ADSL in my apartment. I went to the local TT&T office a few months ago and had it installed.

The connection is via Maxnet. Who are they affiliated with?

I also receive 2 bills every month. One from TOT and one from Maxnet (TT&T).

Anyway, I've been away working for a few months and on my return found that my connection was close to 2.5Mb downstream instead of the 1Mb I originally had. Got some bunf in the post from Maxnet, but it's all in Thai so can't decipher it.
