Printing Data On Pre-printed Forms In Ms Access 2003

Featured Replies

Hi,

Background:

I've been using Access97 on a WIN98 PC with a dot-matrix printer for years to print our invoices on NCR paper without problems (only about 10% misprints).

After successfully migrating the DB to a new PC with Access2003 (WIN XP) and also moving the printer (EPSON LQ-300+II) to the new PC I have problems with the form alignments. About 50% of the printed pages are misprints.

Our current NCR forms are of an awkward size (8.5 x 12" - German Std Fanfold) but the printable part of the form fits on an A4 sheet.

Question:

If I scan our form and use this as a template (jpg/bmp/..?) is it possible to print this form at the same time as the dynamic data is printed from our DB on an A4 sheet on the laser printer?

How?

Any ideas?

Thanks,

opalhort

Yes, it is easy. I presume that you are aufait with setting up a report in Access, and can get the data as you want it. Just scan the background form into a suitable form - i use a jpg file, but other formats are fine, then in design view for the form select the image toolbox button and create an image holder. When prompted, select the jpg or other filename, and away you go.

Thanks a lot.

Yes I know how to create reports but did not know how to superimpose the reports on a pre-designed form.

Sounds easy the way you explain it. Will try it tomorrow and hopefully I can get it to work.

Thanks :o
