Petition Against Tot For Lack Of Service

Recommended Posts

As everyone knows TOT just screwed the whole country over with their "upgade plans" by adding a million lines to their already overcrowed 400 000...

I'm thinking of starting a petition against TOT (and TT&T MaxNet?)

If any body would like to draft one I'll post the form on one of my websites and people can go online fill it out and print it.

I would then like to collect a copy of it and present it to TOT and TT&T management, doubt it will help but it might...

I also see a lot of angry Thai customers in the office. This change is backstabbing the whole country actually, not just us foreigners.

This is the text I have writen but I'm sure it's not the best, can anyone fix it or even better create a new petition?

You can post it here and I will publish it on my site for everyone to fill out online and then print out:

"To TOT,

October 2007,

We (collective subscribers) have been having problems with your service for over 2 weeks now. Speeds are down up to 100 times for some subscribers. Although reducing the plan speeds help it doesn't solve the problem.

International speeds are unnacceptably slow from 2am to 9am. Many users see speeds of only 5 kbps or less during these hours. On a 2048 plan that is 409 times slower than the advertised speed...

We have proof of this via multiple speed tests over numerous accouts and hundreds of tests.

- We would like to know WHY this is happening?

- We would like to know WHEN this will get fixed?

- We would like to know IF this will EVER be corrected?"

Best bet is to vote with your money if possible and choose another provider. Never saw an online petition accomplish anything.

Not to put too fine a point on it, the TOT service is fraudulent: they are charging for what they are not providing.

It'd be nice if it was possible to bring a criminal charge against them.

Sadly this is not possible as they are provideing exactly what they say they will provide - an ADSL line with the maximum speed as stated. If you read your terms oif service you'll find that nowhere is the speed guaranteed. If you want fast speeds, pay more for a better quality line eg leased line or lower contention.

As for the petition I dont think you have a leg to stand on, better just cancel and move to another provider.

oh, and nothing will improve until Thailand starts to PAY for decent backbone and cabling to the rest of the world.

Sadly, have spoken to too many thais who seem to agree with the official military <deleted> that somehow the internet is a 'bad thing' and not needed - apart from playing stupid games which are actually not over the internet but sit on the local server in internet bars.

the best petition is to move accounts... if possible.

The opposite here. Unbelievably fast between 2 am and 7 am only.

Waste of time if you ask me.

Good technical support will have notes from your previous calls. Every time I ask them about my previous call they have no idea what was discussed, no notes.

I think that's what he meant...

I also think nothing will happen with the current government, they don't really "get" it. The internet is not their world.

Not to sound too impolite or anything, but you are aware obviously that THIS IS THAILAND...petitions may have some effect in your own country but do you really think they would care less about one here??

And I have to laugh about the fact you've only had problems for 2 weeks...try 2+ years :o

I think a petition would just confuse them in the TOT building.

All of us using TOT adls need to complain. I'm all for this petitiion or whatever else we need to do to get our point across. I call the service center every other day for the past two weeks. They say they will give to technician. Tech called me back once, but so far i see no improvement.

I live in CM, maybe we should group together, march in to the hq office and threaten to cancel service. I know this won't happen, but somehow we need to speak up.

Nothing has changed much according to my wife who says her family with 8 kids once waited 8 years for a second phone line to be installed. :o

A petition wouldn't do much but a bunch of foreigners waving signs in front of ToT would surely attract a few tv channel's attention, newspapers as well, some Thais would surely join if you made it last. Be sure to bring along passport with valid visa. :D

I'm told the TOT site has a complaints/blog page. I've heard a few Thais have been making their feelings about the service known there. Maybe you could do the same.

:bah:

how long you been working for tot, man? ha the protesting idea is a great one. thais love some sensational news.

might as well write your complaints on a piece of a4, make a paper airplane, go to the top of baiyoke and let it go hoping it lands in the right hands :o:D :D :D :D

TOT messed up again this sunday evening.

I know we are not in Europe, but I really start to wonder how it is possible to provide such a poor service. I can remember having two hours downtime on my Demon adsl line in a whole year - usually due to broken fibers or any other clear cause (their helpdesk always explained what the actual problem was).

But TOT is not even capable to provide 90% uptime (98% is regarded a minimum uptime which is very easy to achieve - all over the world). One cannot even blame this anymore on broken cables, monkeys behind the keyboards, coconuts falling into satellite dishes, meteorites blocking microwave connections or whatever obscure excuse the call center comes up with (well, at least they admit everytime they don't know what the problem is).

I guess one must be 100% Thai to mess up on this scale.......

Anyone seen job advertisements yet for farang @ TOT ? "Please help us solve our mess"

Best bet is to vote with your money if possible and choose another provider. Never saw an online petition accomplish anything.

The problem is: There are no alternatives! At least in Issan, all other poviders use the ToT lines for backbone. And it is ToT that is fouled up. Further, they lease bandwidth on the CAT Gateway server to the World. That further constricts speeds for everyone into the rest of the world. There must be some watchdog agency that has some authority in this issue.

I too doubt seriously if an online petition will accomplish anything.

I did get a bit of info from Customer service and Technical here in Surin. They admit that the speed issues we see are directly related to ToT short-sightedness in doing the Blanket upgrade without having the inrastructure in place to handle the increased BW usage.

Similar to AT&T's idiocy when they forced @Home to sell to them in the US a few years ago. They are still struggling to get out from that issue. But they at least had the technical capability to understand the problem, and the Capital to overcome it. ToT has neither. Nor do they have the Will to do it. Jai yen yen is the standard attitude.

T.O.T. ????

what a big story!

Your idea to start a petitition to TOT is great.....but no works and never make any sense.

Anyway, nothing will change :o because we are in thailand!

Do you d'ont know this: never make a Thai loosing his face, can be very dangerous!

If somebody want to have a guaranteed highspeed......go back to europe and enjoy there your internet.

Thailand is a 3.rd. world country (isn't it) what do you expect from a company in such a country like LOS?

Be just happy with what you get (speed) and never be angry about what you d'ont get :D

TOT have no interest and/or money to serve every customer with that what they pay for it!

The only thing what is true here in LOS, pay more money per month and you will get a better

internetspeed, because the line-sharing from CAT are very expensive. If you have a Goldcyber-Account

from TOT you will be more happy then with a cheaper contract....i checked before.

The share-ratio with other users/customers are smaller with an Goldcyber-Account.

CAT-Telecom offer the best internetspeed in LOS, because they control the national and

international bandwidth all over LOS. If u like to pay 3k to 6k baht monthly, then go to CAT :D

Maybe it's something more wrong that why some people has a very bad speed.

1. you are to far away from the next TOT-hub (the signal will decrease dramaticaly)

2. your ADSL modem d'ont get the optimal settings (try with different settings)

3. your computer/notebook has a lot problems with Windows and d'ont work really well)

4. your computer/notebook d'ont have the right settings in the Registry for use ADSL.

5. your cable from TOT is in a bad condition on the way, just go out and look how the cables looks here :D

(call TOT and tell them, you want to check your signal at the end of the cable, if no reaction....call them

every day until they send you the technican people to check it out), someday they must come to you.

as we see, there are many things who can make a bad speed......

PS: Goldcyber in KoSamui works very well,

now TOT had made an update from 1024kbit to 2048kbit, for the same monthly rate :D

That's mean, double speed for the same money (upload still 512kbit, enough)

And that's not just a promotion-fake.....it works really

Average speed in thailand about 1500kbit to 2500kbit, outside about 300kbit to 1500kbit.

Depending on daytime or nighttime and something more.....but it's OK :bah:
