Following something that was written elsewhere prompted me to ask this.

Stupidly :o I have sacrificed a lot in the past for following my team, literally o'er land and sea - I'd never dream of doing the same for England - and would always say that West Ham comes before country... every time.

But there's still a bit in me that often begrudgingly, and against my better judgement (it ain't going to happen) still wants England to actually win something ; even although my head knows that England are now effectively second class citizens in International footballing terms.

But is there anyone who actually thinks that the England team (or Scotland if it comes to it) is more important than their club - or even equal to in any respect ?

I think the stigma of following England(the football team) has mellowed in recent years.

I think that stems mostly from players attitudes.

Watching the game against Russia, can anyone honestly say that Gerard, Rooney,Ferdinand or Lampard when he came on,performed with the same grit and determination that they do when playing for their clubs<

I didnt. In particular Rooney and Gerard who wear their heart on their jerseys when playing club football.

I think that rubs off on the fans.

If City were playing Thai time at 2 or 3 in the morning I would stay up and watch the game. If it was England I probably wouldnt!!

Not I.

I was more interested in England results when my team was in a much lower league, but now my only interest is maintaining our Premier League status.

I will obviously watch England play but I also wont stay up until 4am in the morning to watch them unless they were playing in the World Cup Finals.

After we got beaten by Russia I went to bed and forgot about it within minutes.

Lets be honest, England are not very good and we all know we are not gonna win anything...more's the pity, maybee in another 10 years we will have a really good crop of players...who knows??

absolutely agree with you!

they were all over the place, panic after the first goal.

seems to me that they just want to get it over and done with.

deep down i never have confidence when England play..anyway.

they seems to choke when its comes to important moments.

yes..if they play like when playing for their clubs the result would have been different .

Overtime, my desire to follow the England team has dwindled. Whilst, I always want us to win, the days of getting up at daft o'clocl to watc them play have long gone. I can count on one hand the number of decent performances/good games that England have been in over the past 17 years, there really isn't many.

The players, in my opinion show no heart or desire when playing for Ebgland, but what can you expect when their paymasters (clubs) are paying them 50,000+ a week. There loyalty is always going to be with the club.

If you look at the England team/squad at present, I don't think McClown could have picked anything better than he has done, but he clearly is unable to get the best out of them, and is tacticaly naive against cannier managers. McClown is a good Assistant or coach, but he is not a good manager.

For me, until the players start playing with a bit of passion, then I will continue to pay less and less interest in the team.

i want england to win, but i have no passion for supporting them.

mainly due to the treatment of man utd players over the years, and mainly the abu eliment who follow england.

I always want England to win and have a great passion for them. But if i had to chose between the 2, it would be Man City EVERY time. It's like watching Brazil any way :o

the scottish national team is more important to me than any scottish club.

but tbh I don't actually follow any scottish club - could be the reason. :o

I look out for the scores of both celtic and aberdeen but I wouldn't say I support either (anymore).

Liverpool are always first and foremost :D .

England still is my number 2 team , I will always want them to win.

I remember when I was 16 after having just finished my G.C.S.E' s and me and my mates went to France for the summer to watch England in the world cup . Although it ended in disappointment ( as usual :o ) some of the memories from that trip will stay with me for life :D .

Though the good times are few and far between when cheering England , it's a great feeling when the times are good :D .

You see now a lot of the England fans who go abroad to watch the games are from the lower leagues and maybe us lot who support the big teams have been spoilt some what by our success on the pitch.

Can't blame us really , England have won <deleted> all for 41 YEARS ........... and counting :D .

Yep, seen them a well Scouse mate ! The 'Barrow in Furness' lads usually make an appearance along with 'Leatherhead' :o I wonder how many go & watch these teams?

In answer to the question.....Club most definately first.......following England is not for me & all the <deleted> that comes with it :o

I would honestly rather pay to listen to Torquay v Sunderland than watch England v Brazil. I do enjoy the World Cup Finals, but generally find international football to be less interesting than the personal attachment that comes with following a club since being knee high to a grasshopper.
