Canon 40D

Last month I traded my old 10D and bought the new 40D.

As I did not have a real wide lens I bought the Kit with the 17-85mm IS USM lens.

My previous widest was 28mm.

I cannot tell you how happy I am with the whole setup.

I filled a 2Gb memory card in the first week.

All the little things that I had to tolerate on the old 10D are gone.

Instant switch on.

Efficient focusing. (I had to turn off all the peripheral focus points on the 10D to get it to focus where I wanted)

High mounted internal flash, so no vignetting at 17mm

Great viewing screen on the back

ISO visible in the view finder

Familiar layout of controls.

The 17-85mm lens is a very versatile focal range

giving wide to medium tele in one package.

It seems to work well for portrait as well.

I have purchased a 10-22mm for the really wide world.
