nuf Posted October 23, 2007 Posted October 23, 2007 Hey all I'm going to be in Krabi at the end of the month and was wondering where a good place is to go do some shopping for clothes, bags, etc. Thanks !!!
seonai Posted October 23, 2007 Posted October 23, 2007 Depends on your style??? Vogue dept store in town has sensible clothes whereas Ao Nang Beach and surrounding areas has 'hippy' style stuff. There's also a good Thai 'Talad Nut' - market on certain days up the road from Ao Nang Beach on the right past McDonalds, in a field. Ask locally for times
nuf Posted October 24, 2007 Author Posted October 24, 2007 Thanks Well, I'm not looking for smart clothes, more things along the lines of shorts, shirts, jeans, etc. I didn't want to pack too much, and buy more when I get there. But I also don't want to get there and I can't find any places to buy stuff and end up stuck with only 2 pairs of clothes I was actually thinking of packing both mine and my wife's stuff in one bag, buy another bag there and do tons of shopping.
seonai Posted October 24, 2007 Posted October 24, 2007 well the shops at Ao Nang do lots of shorts and tops - not so sure about jeans (might get them at the market). If you go along to the left side of Ao Nag Beach (as you have your back to the sea) there are a load of shops around the corner which do clothes too - it's a fairly new complex right off the main road past Krabi Resort. Haven't been for a while but I'm sure it's safe to come with one bag and stock up when you are there.Let us know how your holiday goes here please Seonai
JustAnotherFarang Posted November 1, 2007 Posted November 1, 2007 If you land first in BKK, then do your shopping there because the prices are exhorbitant in Krabi by comparision. JAF
nuf Posted November 12, 2007 Author Posted November 12, 2007 Thanks for the help. I'm back from my trip and it was great. I did most of my shopping along Ao Nang for shorts/shirts/etc. I only went past Bangkok at the end of the trip so couldn't wait, but I do see the price difference..... double than in bangkok. I suppose it is a tourist spot though. But even with the higher prices, it was great going around shopping, visiting the islands and everything else. Pity it was cloudy most of the time. Although I did hear that they closed Krabi airport the day after I left Thailand due to the weather, so I suppose I wasn't that unlucky. A wonderful place and I'm sure I'll be back. Thanks again
