New Lcd For Laptop

Featured Replies

Hi all. Just curious if anyone has had the LCD in their laptop replaced? I have a 15" IBM laptop and the LCD has lines through it and is faded in parts. I'm curious what the cost would be to have it replaced. Any info on where and/or cost would be great. Thank in advance.

Depends how old your laptop is! New replacement screens are very expensive, so not realy worth it if your laptop is too old.

There is however the option of trying to find a second hand replacement. There's a shop in Pantip (same floor as the food court, also has some instruments around) and they tend to take apart all usable stuff out of broken laptops. They always have a bunch of older replacement screens at affordable prices...

I just so happened to have picked up my Sony VAIO which showed the same problem as you are describing except mine then went black. Plugging into an external monitor worked fine but the inbuilt screen was shot.

Took it to Sony on the Hang Dong Rd and they sent it to Bangkok - turned out not to be the screen but the inverter. Total cost was B3,038.80, the frustration of putting up with my old Compaq laptop (top of the line 6 years ago, useless now) made it a very easy payment to make. You really should make sure your aren't going to more expense than necessary. Take it to the IBM shop in Pantip and ask them to quote a repair - may be a better ie cheaper option to replacing it.

I had a problem with the keyboard on my old Compaq notebook.

They wanted something like $200 for a new one.............

Buying a new machine may be the better option, but no

harm in checking first.

You may be lucky like Crow Boy.
