The Krabi Marine Office is now preparing to set up a sea rescue centre on Phi Phi Island to cope with fast growing marine tourism in the Andaman region. The move follows several sea accidents in the past few months as Phi Phi is the destination from many provinces such as Phuket, Phang-Nga, Trang and Satun, making it difficult for the Krabi authority to control their safety standard. While awaiting a budget, the provincial Marine Chief Chana Dam-mee said since October 15th marine officials have rotated to be on duty on the island to monitor and assist tourists so that they can take prompt action in case of any emergencies.

Visitors are however not allowed to swim in the water as it is still monsoon season and the administrator decided to provide some time for the underwater natural resources to revive.
